Battery incident, what should I check?
Hey all, long story but, I installed a new starter and when cranking down the positive terminal on the starter I didn't realize it moved my positive battery cable to make contact with my headers and it melted in half. It did short on my headers and I've had a misfire since..what systems should I check for electrical damage?
thanks for the help,
Calypso

Are you saying it has an idle surge or misfire ?

both, have misfires definitely, the idle surge i think is what im dealing with since my car will try to accelerate when in 1st below 10mph. Only when cold though. It's definitely a surge but quits when I'm fully on the brakes

You might isolate the misfire to a cylinder by doing a cylinder drop unplug each plug wire one at a time. Figure out that first before seeing if the surge is gone or a vacuum leak.

Command the oac in then unplug it. See if it still surges. I don’t think it’s a iac issue

what do you mean by command it in? I don't have any tuning or ecu programs or anything fancy to mess with the computer. I only have access to tools for mechanical work lol

Do you have access to a jumper wire or paper clip. Koeo jumper the aldl a to b. The iac is commanded in. Unplug the iac connector and start. See if it still surges. Sounds like a lean surge and ecm is trying to stabilize idle and can’t.
