Heater pipe wanted

Looking for the pipe for the heater hose specific to this photo as mine is missing and looking to restore to original. Believe this is for early model 305 TPI only as later model has an additional port.

Re: Heater pipe wanted

If you mean that metal pipe connecting the question mark shaped hose exiting the heater core to the straight piece of hose returning to the radiator, it's the same as TBI cars and likely many more

Yes sir and good to know as my research typically around the TPI and I had read this part was 85-86 models.

Re: Heater pipe wanted

Well, I'm not entirely sure they are all the same but for any cars that return the water to the radiator I can't imagine why they would make any different design to do the same thing. It looks just like my 92 TBI one but you'll have to check for others. Maybe someone with parts catalogs can tell you more. Happy hunting
A look at my factory shop manual shows the same part on V8 TPIs and TBIs, V6s are different. Don't know how carb cars route the heater core return or where they go to??

Re: Heater pipe wanted

Appreciate any help guys, since I don’t have his installed I’m trying to find a reference and ran into this where it is saying that early 85-86 models don’t have the third connection as mine doesn’t seem to have a bypass valve

@1985_IROC do you have one on your 85?

it’s odd that the 85-86 diagram only shows for c41 non ac but I’m pretty sure all ac cars had the coolant valve witch is what the extra nipple on the pipe is for

Re: Heater pipe wanted

Yeah I don’t have the coolant valve on my system. The 85-86 diagram came out of my GM 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Shop Manual and the other post here on Thirdgen.org seems to say the same. There is no mention of a valve in the shop manual.

I looked at RockAuto and they don’t show a Heater Valve for 85 or 86 but they do for 1987. Also I don’t have a vacuum line laying around or anything that shows something capped off that I can see.

Starting to feel confident that it’s the pipe without an extra port. Was hoping for confirmation from another 85 owner

Re: Heater pipe wanted

I have an 86 Iroc, and it does not have the heater valve, and my pipe does not have the provision for it.

Re: Heater pipe wanted

It's 85/86 only, but also 87-92 without A/C, which makes it a bit unusual and certain sellers will charge a premium because it's an A/C delete part.

Re: Heater pipe wanted

that part is discontinued. best bet would be a junkyard. what i have been thinking of doing is use regular rubber line. straight connector from #1 to rubber line then a 90* elbow to follow where the pipe was then into the radiator.

My pipe had narrowed, so that is exactly what I did. Rubber lines and 90's make it follow the close proximity of the OEM routing, except I kept it away from my headers more.
