Wanted: Racetronix L98 style Hot Wire & Relay Kit or equivalent.
Hey TGO, been a while. My car has been in storage for 4+ years! Anyway after spinning a rod bearing on my LS1 I ended up selling the LS swap parts/Pocket’s custom wiring harness and keeping the roller/original drivetrain for future use.
Here and now I’ve gone back to a GEN1 350 SBC with an edelbrock pro flo 4 XT injection set up. Nothing fancy; maybe making around 400HP with mild cam/ported bowtie heads.
Bottom line is I have to run an upgraded Walbro fuel pump to power my set up properly; I have a genuine Walbro 255 pump kit… it will go in a 1989 L98 factory style Fuel Tank/Sending unit (new TRQ brand). However I need a Hot Wire/ Relay kit to power it. This is the kit I need so there is no confusion: https://www.hawksmotorsports.com/l98...it-racetronix/
Racetronix, Hawks & a few other places are out of stock. I messaged Hawks & they told me the kit is on back order.
If anyone has a Racetronix Hot Wire harness/relay kit or knows where to get one I would highly appreciate if you contact me. If your selling a used kit, that will work for me. I really just need the harness/relay.
Re: Wanted: Racetronix L98 style Hot Wire & Relay Kit or equivalent.
Only other option I can think to do if I cant get a hot wire kit is fabricate my own… however I'm inexperienced with custom wiring & scourcing adequate parts. Im good at wrenching & bolt-ons, however custom wiring has never been a strong point of mine.
Based off photo I assume this would just bypass the factory power wire but still allow me to plug in my fuel gauge at the passthrough behind rear seat? I’m not really sure till I have everything in front of me. Any help is appreciated. All the best, Kyle.
Re: Wanted: Racetronix L98 style Hot Wire & Relay Kit or equivalent.
If you can't find a kit, then I have stuff in my spare parts stash that will help you build your own.
* (used) alternator hookup wire and 20A fuse holder from a 4th gen Hot Wire kit
* (new) upsized Metri-Pack 630 fuse holder kit Racetronix FHK-001. I'd use this instead.
* (new) optional Racetronix chassis ground cable
* (new) shrink wrap for ring terminal ends
* (new) Connector body that fits the pass-thru behind rear seat (Delphi 12020829)
* (new) Metri-Pack 280 2-way connector pair.
* (new) Weather-Pack 4-way connector pair. Not same as in Racetronix kit but it'll get the job done if you want a 4-way.
Re: Wanted: Racetronix L98 style Hot Wire & Relay Kit or equivalent.
After looking over the Racetronix website, I found the harness I need (w/o the pump) is in stock; however the whole kit (w/ pump) is out of stock. I went ahead and ordered it: https://www.racetronix.biz/p/fl98-fu...rness/fpwh-005
I would have found this earlier however I was searching for “RFPK-005” which is the whole kit. That kit shows as out of stock. However the harness alone is “FPWH-005” which shows as in stock.
Hopefully its not a glitch and the harness really is in stock; having this harness ready to go will be very nice.
I would like to leave this thread open until I get the harness shipped to me to verify it actually is in stock. It is possible a mix up at the warehouse has happened… My point being if you have a harness/hotwire kit for sale dont hesitate to contact me.
I’ll update this thread as I get confirmation from Racetronix.
Re: Wanted: Racetronix L98 style Hot Wire & Relay Kit or equivalent.
While I still haven't heard back from Racetronix yet (will keep this thread updated with details); I wanted to give QwkTrip a public thank you for being so helpful in the PM’s we've exchanged.
Re: Wanted: Racetronix L98 style Hot Wire & Relay Kit or equivalent.
Thanks! No big deal, I had the stuff laying around so glad to help. Stuff has been harder to get the last couple years so I'd expect there's going to be more and more people looking for little things to keep their projects going.
Re: Wanted: Racetronix L98 style Hot Wire & Relay Kit or equivalent.
An update: As mentioned in post #5 I placed an order with Racetronix on April 14th. To my surprise the harness was delivered to me on April 20th; quick turnaround considering Easter/Good Friday. The hot wire pump/relay harness appears to be very well made. For future searches: Part # FPWH-005 is for fuel injected factory style in tank pump/sender with metal fuel tank. For 85-92 F-bodies w/ SBC fuel injection that requires 255 pump upgrade .
