Truck motor swap into 89 RS

Was wondering what is the best truck motor to get to switch from a 305 to 350 in my 89 RS. Not to many camaro's in my area.

if u replace the heads and make sure its a 4bolt oh and change the pistons any of them. but atleast change the heads if u r just looking for a decent motor. with some pull.

The most horsepower would be one of the 96+ Vortec 350's. With a good cam they can make really good power. The 90-95 trucks have all the provisions for the roller cam but didn't get the roller cam and their heads leave something to be desired for power.

I would say that the only part worse than the heads is the cam. Its TERRIBLE. The L05 runs really well when converted to run the LT1 cam. L05 has no power past 3500 rpm but with an LT1 cam it will pull strong to 5000 rpm+ even with the stock intake.

So I would change the cam before even putting the motor in the car. You will be much happier. Also, putting in the 95 S10 4.3L torque converter at the same time would give you a better take off.

well dont have money to do that right now but it will be a later project to swap out the cams, plus i need to paint the engine but i'll give that prob to be a next spring project.

well still got a couple of wires to connect and well it turns and started but i am not getting any fuel into the fuel injectors so hopefully it is with a wire i have not connected but it is rainy so can not complete job some hurricane is comming from the gulf of Mexico.
