How about you swap in a 7M-GTE or other small turbo chardged stright six. Stright sixes are sweet. You can make em DOHC, turbo charged, and super strong (main bearing between every cylinder). Don't flame me for wanting a Toyota engine in a GM vehicle but I think it would be sweet.

oh yeah, that is where i got the idea from. i mean v-8s are cool in my book and stuff, and i swear by them
but inline 6s can haul ****.
did gm only make one inline 6 block for cars or were there many of them?

GM had a 230ci and 250ci Inline sixes. And they're new Vortec inline 6 also.
I don't think a cowl would help at all because the height problem occurs at the front of the hood where it comes down to fit the front fascia. The straight 6 is the same height from the front to the back so it won't be tall in the back for the hood but unless you put a big hump in the hood in the front, the hood would be too low in the front because it slopes down too much.

since this topic is off the wall, and he wants to do it when he's got gobs and gobs of money, i'll throw this idea out there. I personally think that our engine bays are wide enough that the easier fit would be to mount the i-6 horizontally ACROSS the bay. Sure it would take some engenious engeneering to route the power, but if you're going for different you could always make it a *gasp* FWD vehicle. I'm just kinda rambling now and reading back my idea sounds stupid so please don't flame me :lala:
