drop 350 in with what attached.

i am swaping in a 350 and i would like to know if it is easier to put it in with the headers already installed. i dont have air or ac. i bought the hooker 2460's headers. i was thinking of droping in the engine with headers and bell housing installed. then later put on the tranny. does this sound good. will the headers fit in with the engine at one time or will i not be able to put the headers on till after.

I just dropped a 305 in my cousins s-10 last night and there was no way to put it in with the headers installed. The steering shaft has to go in between them and the starter woulnt clear the frame. I know its not a camaro, but I would just wait untill its set in.

Headers will not fit that way. Lay them in the chassis, drop the engine in on top of them.

Yes, and you might want to put the spark plugs in before you tighten the bolts and after you set the headers in place. You also might want to put the starter in before you put the headers in.

I stabbed mine w/o transmission with the headers and spark plugs installed. Balancer, water pump, starter, flexplate, intake, etc., on; but not carb or distributor. And I have AC.

Tilt sling very helpful in this task.

When I did my swaps I was personally able to put the engine in with the headers and bellhousing attached. Mine were Edelbrocks so that may make a difference.

I did. Pulled the engine out of the donor car with them installed, and again for the mods with them installed. They were never removed until the engine was on the stand.

when i did my engine, i dropped the engine in with the tranny already bolted up. there is no way that you can do it with the headers installed though. well, at least with my SLP headers, and i highly doubt it with any others..

i did it, with headers, starter waterpump and distributor all on the engine, as a matter of fact the alternator was on it too.

i'm running the pacesetter headers from jc whitney, and i still have the huge ac box but no ac hoses or compressor
