The "Choke" light is really the "Alternator" light. By way of some emissions-related logic that defies comprehension by us mere mortals, the factory decided to label the light clearly so that any reasonably mechanically proficient person would be able to tell right away what part to replace. Light comes on, says "Choke", means "The alternator is not working". Makes alot of sense doesn't it?
Anyway, sense or not, you need to replace the alternator.

okay , so why will it start again , and again .. never just completely go out ? never dim lights ...nothing it wont shut off if i completely floor the gas pedal just sounds like its "bogging" out ya know
BTW . thanks in advance for shedding light on my situation
Now, I don't know if the 3rd gen CCC Q-Jet cars are this way ( I would ASSUME so,.......but you know how that goes ) but the 4th gen Monte's with the CCC Q-Jet have the low oil pressure sensor wired into the choke circuit. Sometimes a choke light being on also means LOW oil pressure.
Just a FYI......

I love the oh so easy to understand lights in my dash
When my choke light stayed on, my voltage was also very low. Found out the alternator was indeed bad. Oh well, I was wondering why I was getting the "what the hell's wrong with you" lecture when I was driving spiritidly with 11 volts and a choke light on. Apparantly I was lucky to make it home that day. 40 miles with a weak alternator is not a good thing

Don't know if this will help but...
My 83 V6 car had the choke light which was tied into a choke heater element on the carb's base gasket. There was a gray electrical connection that tied into the harness and a 15 amp "choke" fuse in the fuse block. Turns out the fuse was blown. When the light was on the car would restart but it kept getting loaded up with Gas.
