I would like to know what combo everyone have put together or brainstorming. Here is what I have on TAP:
Here is my Combo that hopefully will be complete before the summer or early fall. I Have to go to Russia for 45 days, so I want have time to work on the engine:
Engine: 400 SBC ID# 330817/14y139664/ T0508CSU
(4.125 bore X 3.750 stroke) after .040 bore (4.165 bore x 3.75 stroke =408)
Crank: Scat Cast 9000 3.750 6.00, Internally Balance

My engine was made out of leftovers and used parts. My best run to date is a 14.2 at 98 mph. I blame most of that on the torque converter and the heads need to be ported and matched. The pistons and rods are heavy you can get away with hypereutetic pistons, and cast rods, but if you have the money and don't mind the weight, then forged is the way to go. The cast crank is good up to 400-500 hp. Billet is the best because you get a better finished piece, but forged is real good too. The XE280 is entirely too big and is probably killing my valve springs. The 750 is a little big, but not bad at all. The performer RPM has raised intake ports, so it's a decent match to the vortecs, but definately need to be matched. The heads have the old style intake holes drilled into them, but you have to seal the threads, becasue they go into the water jackets. The whole combo was thrown off by going too small on the heads. They were a money decision, not a performance decision. If you run an auto then the Torque Converter is another huge decision. The 12" I'm running was another cost decision. A 9.5" is much more efficient and multiplies the torque more. I'd probably run a late model with 2bolt with splayed mains for better weight too.

Well, I *was* planning on saving for the Rock 'n Roll Engineering 500hp Pontiac 350, but that was before I found a local speed shop that would build something similar using a SBC for half the price

My combos are basically in my sig.
I have a couple of observations about yours.
Carb - Assuming this is a strip-primary car, or at least you want to build it towards optimizing that use, consider a DP rather than VS. The Avenger is an over-priced marketing special IMHO, whereas you can build a 4150 from a 3310 for a lot less money. But, DP is going to give you better power/performance characteristics (yeah, I know I don't have one), so seriously consider one of them instead. A 750 DP should do well (which is what I should have done).
Exhaust - Again assuming this is for racing, consider more exhaust. If you don't have a lot of speed bumps to navigate, LT's and at least 2-1/2" dual back would let this larger inch Mouse exhale. 1-5/8" primaries will only support 350's (383 in a stretch) that rev above 5000 RPMs.

This car would be a Street/weekend cruser w/5 track night per year. I already have the Exhaust taken care of. As far as the Carb I will look into a bigger carb thenthe 670 Avenger, Might get a 770 Avenger or 3310 Vac Sec..
