off the topic

this is sort of off the topic, well this summer im planning on either swapping my engine for a big block or stroking my sb to a 383. well right now the camaro is my only car so i was considering getting an old tanker to drive around and dick off in over the summer. i was considering an old caddy or a 69 or so lincoln continental, just a beater that runs, but i was curious as to whether it is possible to take the saw-z-all to it and chop the top off, here we don't get much rain at all so it would really matter. i was wondering would i have to rig up some roll bar or something? this is just an idea for a summer toy, just wonderin what you guys though

It seems really easy to butcher the top off of the car and have a convertible. But you have to think that you need to patch the areas that you cut up, it's a lot more work than you think.

first off ede, blow me, second-i don't really care about patching stuff up i just need a cheap car to drive for a little bit, tear up and throw it away at the end of the summer, i don't wanna make another major investment into a car cause i don't have that kind of cash

I think it would be a cool idea, have to watch out about the car folding in half though.

I think it's a stupid idea and I'm probably younger than you are.

The last car i cut the top of of was a oldsmobile cutlass 4 door. It was fun and got a couple funny looks but eventually folded in half.

Dude, I would like to know what part of Kansas you are from, because we get plenty of rain here in the eastern part of it..

I grew up 20 miles north of the Nebraska-Kansas border, about half-way across the state. Believe me, you get a lot more rain in KC than we did. Corn vs. wheat, etc.

But, I agree - just buy a beater that will get you through until your car is ready again. Then, you can cut it up, chop it apart, have fun for a weekend, and find a washout to dump it into. Even better, find something with a full frame, pull the body off after the Camaro is running, weld a seat onto the frame and go dune-buggy with it the weekend before school starts in the fall.

Dont waste your time if you need a beater. Just get a lil 4 banger honda or old import, or somethin simple. Dont cut off the top of something. Seems a little over your head, all of our heads actually.
