HYDRAULIC FLAT TAPPET CAM ISSUES?? HELP!!

Hi Guys, I have got some major questions.

Im sure youve all heard about my 383 build up, and if you havent you have now. I was set on going with the vortec heads, and the vortec tpi base, and such, however I just came under some information from SUMMIT RACING, and I talked to the guy for almost an hour. Heres what he said:

He told me that the cam I wanted to use for my hydraulic flat tappet motor-- (218/224 duration, 462/469 lift, corrected 1.6 rocker 493/501 lift, with 112 lsa) he said that by using 1.6 rockers
I would be changing the rpm range of the cam and kill my low end, and my 60 foot times would be terrible??????? Is this true. He said if a cam is designed for a 1.5 rocker then you use a 1.5 rocker and if its designed for a 1.6 rocker you use a 1.6 rocker. I didnt see how adding lift killed your low end??? . Is this true??? I thought that duration had the main effect on rpm range???

He said it was a terrible choice, and reccomended some computer cam with like 440/450 lift and 203/212 duration and 114 lsa. I thought that cam was tiny!!!

He then told me that vortec heads must use self aligning rockers, which i knew. I was planning on getting them from wheeeler motorsports, who sales them already machined for screw in studs and guideplates. So I told him, then he says that Ill have to get perimeter bolt valve covers to clear the studs and guide plates, and get the heads tapped and drilled to put those valve covers on since the vortec head was originally for center-bolt style valve covers. He kept going on and on, and then said that I could use self aligning rockers, but they cost 300 and crane is the only brand that sells them!!! He said for all the stuff Id have to do he could hook me up with a real nice pair of world sporstmans 2's that will outflow the vortecs by far. I didnt believe him.

He then went on and told me my rear end (10 bolt) will pretty much explode immiediatly after installing the 383.

Well bottom line, I have about 1200 for my heads AND INTAKE meaning some kind of tpi base, and heads fully assembled. I was planning on spending around 600 on vortecs, and then getting the sdpc vortec tpi base, and having a couple hundred left over for the roller rockers. But If I can get much better heads for the same price then please let me know.

Basically I need some opinions on what to do here. Ive got a 383, that I prolly will rev to around 5500-5800 and i will put a stall converter in it.

I want to copy a few peoples pakcages on here BUT NO ONE HAS A HYDRAULIC FLAT TAPPET MOTOR their all rollers.

Please someone help me out here, cam heads and well ill take care of the intake, but really I need to know. Should I go with the vortecs and just pay for the self alinigning rockers??? or is someone out there running a bad *** package with a non-roller motor in the 12's. mid-low 12's are my goal so. Im just stumped, Ive been reading and reading and thoght i had my setup worked out but it seems ive hit a dead end, so hopefully you guys can help me out here, thanks
my planned setup is in sig----

Well thats the last time Im calling summit for Questions!!!! at least for a while!@!!!!Because there good at feeding you------------

It depends on who you get at summit, some are knowledgable, some arent. Then again, they arent a toll free tech line...
