Swap almost done, need vats help.
Okay, the 305 tpi is in my car, hooked up but wont crank.
I have no juice coming from the purple wire, and i assuming it is vats related.
Heres a little background on yhe swap.
We used the complete motor and harness from an 87 trans am. Everything went off without a hitch, until i turned the key and nothing happened, i did not even get a security light when i turned the key on like i used too.
Well, we grounded the black and yellow wire from the vats relay(or whatever it is)
after doing that, the security light would come on, and the relay would click, but it would still not turn over.
Any ideas, do i need to solder in a resistor, if so, where. I did a search, but the majority of answers were about lt1 swaps.

With no vats setup on the old 87 can't we just completly bypass the vats setup by removing all of the relays, decoder box, and associated wires from the 91 bird?
Or is that more problematic than simply figuring out how to make the 87 ECM recognise Vats, and then bypass it with a resistor.

If we can get the ecm to see the signal, bypassing wont be required, as the system functions properly.

I read something yesterday about bypassing VATs and it said you need to messure the resistance on your key, then get an appropriate resistor to connect the wires with to bypass it. Once i find the page again I'll post it here.
