Car: 85 firebird
Engine: Pos 2.8 pulled and replaced with a 350 tpi motor converted to carb.
Transmission: 700r4, vette servo, shift kit, hayden 15"x8" trans cooler.
Yeah i'd say go for it also Im just about done my swap. I got a GREAT deal on the motor and trans but heres what it cost me.
Engine/trans= $300 (tpi motor)
Mani = $50 from a friend (still owe you ed)
Dist = $20 from a friend of a friend
Motor mounts = $20
Carb= $100 from the guy next door
Plugs,wires,oil,cap, rotor,coil,y pipe,alt bracket and alt= $250
I sold the TPI stuff for $200.
Like he said the motor mounts are the hardest part , and we smashed the wiper motor while doing the swap.

you will need a new y pipe and this is a good time to get some headers and order the appropriate y pipe too.....
also you will need to bend the brake line out of the way a little on the crossmember when you swap the mounts so its not in the way when you install the new engine

also if you want to keep the stock fuel pump you'll need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, it seems like everyone uses the mallory 4309. Its around $80 and seems to work pretty good.
good luck and post any questions you have.

or if you run a mechanical one you can remove the pump from the tank and just replace it with a piece of line in the tank and then remove the feed line from the drivers side and move it over to the passenger side its easy to do and the holes are already there for the clips to screw to then you wont have any extra hoses running across the engine compartment that arent needed

Car: 89rs (previous 2.8)
Engine: 406
Transmission: 700r4 (for now)
Here are the hoses the General is refering too.
A way around that is to run the hardlines down along the x-member to the other side and connect there.
