GMPP Engines under TPI
Hi ;
I want upgrade my engine to a GM 350 HO or a ZZ4 engine in the near future. My question is can I use these engines with my tpi system or can they only be used with a carb. Emissions not an issue for me.
I saw 350HO being sold as a long block however I couldn't find a ZZ4 engine as a long block they all come at least with an intake manilfold for a carb system. Does ZZ4 engines come as long block only?
Also what else would I need to change on my car to make these engines work and work stable? From the searches I made I found that I need to change to larger Injectors, tpi vortec baseplate and a new chip. Are these only things that need to be changed?
Would the standart TPI 350 prom be enough for a 330+ hp engine or would I need to make custom proms for these engines? I'm not looking for extreme performance stability comes first for me.
Thanks

There is no standardized defination of "long block", but generally it means a block with rotating assembly, cam, heads, and valve train. After that, you may get tin, intake, etc. So, the ZZ4 is actually a "long block plus".
If you're going Vortec heads and TPI, the only thing that makes sense is the Scoggin Dickey Vortec TPI crate. You'll still need runners, injectors, TB, and headers to get the 356 HP out of it, but it's got the upgraded heads and cam. A standard HO with a the SD TPI base and other TPI upgrades makes quite a bit less than 300 HP.
The ZZ4 works best with a Vette TPI base. It will match the bolt pattern, and give you EGR capability if you so desire. You'll still need runners, injectors, TB, and headers to get close to the 355 HP the carb'd ZZ4 makes.
A standard 350 PROM may run either of those engines, but the MAF system will probably run out of breath. I have a bud who souped up a ZZ4 with TPI, he converted to SD to get the most out of it. I'd recommend that as well, and learn PROM burning while you're at it.

search the web for ZZ4 TPI there's a guy that did a ZZ4 TPI swap, tons of pictures and info, I think he's running mid 13 sec. with a modded chip. sorry I don't know the site. I find it all the time when I search.

I'll eventually install a vortech stealh ram after I put in my new engine however I need it to install and run with my current tpi system for some time because of funding issues.
I've seen some aftermarket high-flow maf sensors would they supply enough air for 350 engine. My goal is to make 400hp at the crank would it be possible on a 350 HO or ZZ4 engine with stealth ram,chip tuning and full exhaust?
Is EGR an emissions system? I don't think I'll need it. Currently I have no cat advanced timing and a rich burning engine and still my car is in emission limits over here.

EGR is an emissions control system.
You aren't going to get more power out of an HO or ZZ4 by putting stuff on it. You'll need more cam, and perhaps head work, to get better than what the factory advertises.
The HO and ZZ4 do not use the same intake base. You'll have to go with the HO if you want to use a Vortec Stealth Ram in the future.

I currently have a Vortec Tpi setup and I need to find headers that will fit. Any suggestions? The Stock manifolds will not fit. Thanks.
