VETTE MOTOR swap problem in IROC
I just pulled off the oil pan from the 87 vette motor and went to put on the camaro pan from a 88 iroc 305 and it will not fit. The catch is hitting the pan. So now either 350 and 305 pans are different or the corvette oil catch is bigger then a camaro and I will have to get a camaro oil pump. What really sucks is i work 7 days a week and i had to take sunday off to put this in and now it looks like im **** out of luck for getting it in tomarow.. If anyone know what exzactly i need please help cause i have to get this in. Im swapping a 87 vette motor in my 86 iroc.

Im gona be needing parts to like the oil cooler lines that go from water pump to cooler mine are busted. I got to get sleep now i have to search these parts from my buddies just a matter of time now

The oil pump pickup is different between the Corvette and Camaro engines. Thats why the Camaro pan will not fit onto the Corvette engine.

The big difference is the baffles in the pan, the pickup, and more importantly the windage tray and studs. The studs contact the fbody pan. I tried swapping my stuff last night (buddy wants the stock vette motor for his fbody) and the fbody pan won't fit with the studs in place. I gotta go find 3 main cap bolts for 2 bolt main and 3 studs for mine. heh. lame.

Yea, the 350 I'm putting in my TA had a windage tray so I couldn't get the 305 oil pan to fit. But luckily my buddy had a 350 that had thrown a rod sitting in the garage and we just swapped the mains, so he got my windage tray and the oil pan that worked with the windage tray.
