is it the same?....
i tried seaching this but nothing.........................
im considering buying a 5.3 gen III engine (these engines can be found in 98-present chevy and Gmc pickup trucks) and installing it into my 3rd gen.anyways would the install require the same mods as the ls1 swap, and are the demensions of the blocks the same and could i get away with a L98 fuel pump
has anyone done this swap or know know if it the exactly the same as the ls1 swap.

I belive all ls heads are aluminum. The 6.0 caddy heads flow the same numbers as ls6 heads. The only difference with the 6.0 heads is they have a bigger combustion chamber. Personally I would keep my eye out for a 6.0. Also I know this is off subject but have you seen the new Impalas. The come with an all aluminum 5.3 with ls6 heads. Also the motor sits transversly. Think how sweet the thing would be with a 427. Can you say sleeper.

the only ls head that is iron came on some of the later 6.0's I know because that was the longblock mine was built off of . also, you need to find a car oil pan and car accessories to run with . the truck pan is too low and will hit and the truck accessories sit too high if you go with a ls1/6 intake. these are some of the basics you wil get into before you do this. also the 5.3 asks for the same fuel pressure that a 5.7 and 6.0 asks for so a new pump is needed.
