496 into thirdgen underway.
Anybody wanna smack some sense into me. Just so excited about the swap I had to post here , since this is my "home" message board. I am not building the engine , but I am sure to help with the swap and issues(headaches) that come with it. This 496 will have 10:1 comp., 6.385 rods, scat crank, worked over 781s w/2.19/1.88 valves, and a solid roller --25X/269 at 050 714/714 . My 700r4/3500 stallI just bought (suppose to handle 550hp) will more than likely be gone , replaced with a th400.

10:1 with that dome? Are you sure? That looks like a big dome. What pistons? The 781 heads are about 119cc which is the typical open chamber size.

Ok, sorry I forgot to edit my original post. That dome is .275 which should give about 11.2 comp. ratio also the rods are 6.135 H beams. The speed pro part # is H112cp hyper piston.

Hi i am really glad for your swap . I have a 1992 camaro and I want to do a 454 engine swap but I have some questions i hope you can help me . I want to know what should I buy to make this swap ? , Do I have to change my stock engine mounts if I have to change them what should I buy and where i can find it ? , What should do to the transmission ? , Do I have to do some cutting in the K-member ? , I should change my old radiator what should I buy and where can I find the hoses ? , Should i have to relocate the electrical wires ? , And if I want the a\c to work should i relocate it because I have read i should relocate it ?

As far as the stock engine mounts , you should be able to use the stock ones. The tranny depends on the amount of power your going to be putting out. The K member I am not sure about but I will refer you to a sticky about big block swaps we've got available , it's at the very top of the engine swap forum. The elctrical wiring and a/c relocation I've got no answer for but the sticky might help. I would recommend you get an aluminum radiator. Hope I've been a little bit of help.

Nice project. No sense is a requirement for these things. You're right on track.

I HOPE YOURS RUNS AS GOOD/BETTER.
I did a gen.V 502 with 9.6 compression, 265 cc Dart Oval port heads @ 108 cc's combustion chambers. A small roller 260 @ .050 with a 1050 carb and 3.70 gears in a pump gas street driven 82 TA that weighed 3950 lbs. with driver.
Through the full exhaust and in drive (T400) the car would run 10.4 @ 129 mph on a good day and 10.7's on a normal day. What kind of horsepower are we talking about here?
