ls7 swap
just curious to see if anyone else has considered this insanely expensive swap
seeing as the ls7 alone would run you $15k

As soon as I hit the Lotto, quit my job,pay off the house, and add 5000sq. ft. to my shop,it's the next thing on my to do list.
So,probably not gonna happen in my car,but if someone does it,it would be *** kickin',wouldn't it!?

yes it would be, in the most recent episode of Hot Rod Magazine they did a final write up on the ls7 solstice with a t56 and the thing pushes 585 hp and as expected beats the new z06 vette and on top of that it weighs less than the stock solstice (not by much though) the hot rod solstice not only beats the vette but also the lamborghini murcielago, ferrari enzo, and the porsche carrera gt. runs a 10.77 1/4 mile and has other crazy stats to match.
and it looks amazing too. dual 3 in. exhaust with the pipes exiting through the center rear in a custom cf diffuser. IMO i don't see why gm doesn't put out at least a limited production run of this car and a sky version also because gm designers were a major component of the project and many of the parts used are original gm!!
if i had the cash i would shell out for an ls7 solstice!
but i would also drop an ls7 and zo6 drivetrain into my 89 formula.

I'm sure it will happen eventually, but as of yet I don't think anybody has done it. I don't think it will ever be as popular as the LS1/LT1 swaps, but there will probably be a few brave people with $$ to spend who will do it.

Has anybody even done an LS6 yet??? I dont think I have seen one of those let alone a brand new LS7. If I had that kind of money I would go with the 572

but even if you could fit a big block in a third gen, why would you take up all that space when you could have a 427 small block that weighs less and doesn't take up as much room and still makes a lot of power?

Where did you find that picture? I live in Mooresville, NC and theres an F-body shop called F-body Motorsports maybe 20 minutes away from my house and last time i visited, there was 91' (I believe) black Firebird with an LS7 engine with almost that exact same appearance as that one (carbon fiber, dual cold air intake, etc). They said the guy that owned it is about to hit the $70k investment on that car.

not to be an a-hole but if u did the math and looked at parts u can get a roller assembly and rods and sleves for half the price of the hole motor and use a ls1 or 2 block but its just an idea

if you gave me the money for an LS7...... id build you a motor that was alot faster.... lol.
the LS7 is amazing because its a stock motor. but thats just a STARTING POINT.. if you want to go fast, and have a daily driver motor.... just get a nice forged shortblock in whatever displacement you desire, and run aftermarket LS7 style heads, with a camshaft to match your taste....
