Re: engine swap?

The block will be the same everything up top accesiroies etc will be diffrent are i would think they would be. if u wanted too build a 350 from the block that would work. Not positive on the fitment stuff someone will know for sure

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: engine swap?

It is absolutely identical in every way on the outside. It will drop right in and fit with no detectable difference.

Use the WHOLE truck motor; TB, sensors, EVERYTHING. The only thing you'll have to change is the PROM in the computer.

Re: engine swap?

I prefer a slightly different approach...

I would do as suggested above and keep the WHOLE truck engine. Then I would take all of the front accessories off of it. The A/C, alternator, power steering, and all that. Then I would use all of the Camaro accessories on the truck engine. That way you know that all of your hoses and wires line up.

Everything is re-useable between the 305 and 350 accessories. Sometimes the alternator and bracket is on the right, sometimes the left, etc...,

If you use your Camaro accessories only, and the entire truck engine, you will be fine.

Re: engine swap?

Well, that's what I meant about accessories.

I think you should take all of the front stuff (accessories like the A/C, alternator and power steering) and run your old 305 parts, including the water pump, on the front. Your truck stuff will probably work but may cause problems later. You will need to use the water pump for your 305 because it turns backwards from the water pumps that use separate belts instead of one, serpentine belt. If you re-use your original accessories, you can buy replacements from the store for your car and not worry whether or not they will fit.

Re: engine swap?

PROGRAMMABLE READ ONLY MEMORY chip

It is the replaceable chip inside your computer. It tells the computer specifically what to do while your engine is running.

You really should do a lot of searching before doing this swap so that you get it right.

Read this article until you understand it and you can't go wrong...

I don't know how it can be said any more clearly. Is there any part of that statement that is unclear, that I can help you with?

Accessories, like power steering and AC and such, are part of the car, not part of the motor. Use what came with your car; unbolt them from the existing motor before you pull it, and re-bolt them to the other one.

Check the TBI forum. Discussed often there.

It's even been linked for you above.
