hey man i got a 89 camaro with a 2.8fi took out the motor trans and engine harness computer.well i got that done i put int the 88 iroc engine harness and computer it all hooked up.just wanted to no if it will run?the two plugs that mate next to the computer for the dash harness are the same on both cars.thanks and hope to get a answer i am putting motor in tommorow.o and i followed ur sticky.

I'm not too sure what sticky your talking about but I did a similar swap (89 2.8 - 90 5.7). In 89 GM decided to run the wiring for the alternater a little differently so you may want to watch out for that. The only major thing I can guess at giving you a hard time is the plug on the fire wall. Some of those wires may be in different locations ie alternator. Best to get a print out of both and check. I don't have one from an 88 and I'm not too sure where my one is from 89, but I'll try and find it if you'd like. If you do a search you'll probably find them.

i figured they would be the same figureing there both mass air,the alternator hooked right up.did ur's run with the 2.8 dash harness?if not has any one done this and it ran?i noticed the fuel pump dont come on but motor turns over.every thing works but motor wont start i just think the fuel pump aint coming on.thanks

well i got fuel now bad sensor.i think it's going to run.got fuel motor turns over iam going to get headers on it and hook up the plug wires and well see.if it does run all those that done the dash harness it was a waist of time.cause the dash harness is identical.

it runs and idles good.whoever doing a swap to tpi from 2.8 it's very easy.and the dash harness works every thing works.thanks for no help.

no it doesent it runs good sitting still bit then in gear go a lil bit it will die and stall and cutout?runs like crap new maf,tps,iac,cts,mts,fuel pump.fpr,i have no idea it revs good in park like it should then it will dies soon as a load is present?i pulled codes and it say that something with ignition is going up?i have tryed diff distributers and a new coil,no different.some help would be appreciated thanks

Now when I was doing my 90 350 engine swap into my 89 2.8 car I ran into all sorts of problems. Mostly because I was going from Mass to Map. But the main culprit was that connection box on the firewall. My buddy has an 88 Camaro service manual for his car and when looking at that book compared to the harness on the firewall (I left the 89 interior harness in the car) they were different. Don't ask me why but thats the way stupid GM made it. I know this isn't much help but it's a place to check/start. If I had of just plugged everything in and went I would've been in the same situation. Swaps aren't all ways as easy as they seem but your close so don't give up!
