Post your cam specs.

I want to know what kind of cams you guys are running in you "street" car. Anyone running a ridiculous cam on the street?? I want to know how it is and if the the trade off is worth the power.

mostly interested in sbc's weather it be 305,327,350,383,400

lets see what you got!

Re: Post your cam specs.

I've personally run cams over .600 lift and 240 duration on the street, in engines from 350 to 500 ci, and those days are over. If you're 18 years old, then I'm sure you'll try it no matter what you're told, but when you're ready for power you can drive, you'll either do a 383, an LSx, or a 350 with boost. Boost on the LSx is a natural, but then you end up with traction problems all the way past 100 mph on drag radials.

Re: Post your cam specs.

218/224 @ .050 at around .470 lift

Thats a pretty tame cam... I want to go bigger. but I dont think I'll go past 230/230. I just dont like the idea of having to spin my motor to 6500 RPMs to get the most out of it. Being able to shift at 5500 isnt always a bad thing.

Re: Post your cam specs.

Had a 212/222 109 LSA cam in my old Carb'd 350 w/ vortec heads, at any time I could stomp it and have power. Pulled no problem to 6k.

Ran the Biggest crane compucam in 350 TPI motor, I can't remember the specs exactly I know it was a 114 wanna say 218/226 with mid .4xx lift. Insane torque from Idle and felt pretty powerful til 4500 in typical TPI fashion. Had 2.73 rear in it and I could only get to about 125 before the cam. I could bounce the needle off the trip reset after I put the cam in. Raced my buddy's BMW 535 a few times, the told me his speedo said about 260km/h when I topped out, converts to about 160 mph. Before anyone get's there thong twisted that was done on the autobahn in germany.

I run a 224/224 .563/.563 112LSA cam in my 2000 Trans am. Bet your *** it's quick, but really doesn't come alive til nearly 3k then rips to 6200 where I have the rev limiter set. LS1's aren't known for there low end in the first place though.

Re: Post your cam specs.

Currently comp roller cam 242/248 .52/.562 110 lsa in my 383. Very streetable cam (IMO), like it quite a bit. I may switch back to my old cam 238/242 .52/.54 110 lsa because I think that cam actually produced more power with my current setup.

Re: Post your cam specs.

Last 383 was 248/252 @.050 with .540/.562 lift on a 112 LSA. BEAT the rev limiter at 7k RPM, but i did not have to go that high if i didnt want to.
