305 ideas
Hi was wanting some insight on my 89 formula. It has a 305, iv recently been looking around for build idea's. I want to make it have some kind of power and torque but nothing crazy. Once im out of college i plan on it being my everyday driver (for the most part) but i want to be able to have some fun in it. Any ways i am wanting to rebuild once i get back but i dnt want all stock... just asking what any1 has to say so much as what you would do or what to do to it.. many thanks and i am planning on carbed or Tuned port injection
Re: 305 ideas
Is there a reason to rebuild it? Is it broke? Worn out? I say if the engine is OK then just spend your money on headers and exhaust. If that doesn't do it for you then heads and cam upgrade. But don't touch the shortblock if you don't need to. (And if you do need to rebuild it, don't. Get a 350. You can thank me later.)

Re: 305 ideas
Best seat of the pants to "feel" some fun for the 305 is rear gears - hunt down a posi rear with a 3.08 gear or better. Also as mentioned, exhaust will help. Doing much more than exhaust and LT1 cam and you're looking at chip programming to keep it running, as the stock ECM just gets confused with too many mods and actually makes it run worse (if at all).

Re: 305 ideas
im not sure id even touch the 305.
do exhaust, headers, cat back, cat delete (if wanted). and trans work converter, shift kit, etc. pretty much things that just set up a good basis for and engine swap. im not knocking a 305 build but its my experience that everybody likes to keep going faster and faster
