Im swapping a '91 L98 into my 86 TPI T/A, I posted a message in the DIY prom board and got the ARAP, 86, 91, hot start, cold start blah blah blah BS and it confused me. (No flame intended to those who answered, thank you, you did help a lil bit) heres my question

86 MAF Car, putting in '91 L98 (has 91 TPI system), I wanna keep it MAF, keep my harness, and all, which year chip do I buy?

Made 350 swap with TPI in my 87 Maf and used
a stock gm 1988 chip for a 350 with good results, runs great and no codes. Check it out.

He might have to. The '91 TPI doesn't have the ninth injector.

He is using the 86 TPI system with 91 l98
so he can use the 88 chip. In 89 no cold start injector thats why I did not use the
89 chip.

My error on the year of TPI being used.
1989 GM chip is the correct choice.

I am sorry the answers confused you, but it indicates that you need to do a little more homework.

1) The 1989 Memcal IS the correct one to use since the 1991 TPI intake does not have a cold start injector and only the 1989 MAF system supported TPI with no cold start injector.

2) The ARAP.BIN is the BEST 1989 Memcal for an L98.

3) I re-read your question and I realize that you are installing the WHOLE 91 L98. So heads are not a problem.

If I think of any other differences, I will let you know.
