what parts are needed for a TBI to TPI motor swap?
I'm possibly getting a 1989 RS with a TBI 305 in it. It's gonna need a new motor probably and I found a TPI 305 for the time being. What all do I need to get to preform the swap?

Hopefully, the TPI is still in the car. Otherewise, you may find headaches that you would rather avoid.
The TPI will have different harnessing from the engine to the computer, a different computer, different fuel pump in the tank, different air intake system, different throttle cables (accelerator, TV, cruise). All of these things, including the entire engine and everything that is actually bolted to it, should come over from the donor car.
If all you have is an engine sitting on the floor with a TPI on it, you're a long way from there. Buying all the parts seperately would not be worth it (you could find a donor car complete for less than all those parts would cost you).

The motor I've foun is out of the car but the car is still down at the salvage yard along with a lot of other 3rd gen cars. If possible can somebody make me a list of all the parts I'll need for the swap.

I would keep the TBI injection and put it on the TPI engine, it will have a lot more power than a stock TBI would and be a lot easier too, then sell the TPI system, I wish I had a dollar fo every TPI car I have beat with my TBI car, I would be a rich man
, but if you really want to do the swap here is some information from the tech section

I'm also looking into converting my L03 into a LB9 (TPI, heads and cam). Accel has a package that includes allot of the extras that are needed to do a TPI conversion. Pump, filter, return line, throttle cables, gaskets, maybe some more stuff, I can't remember. It's a little over $500 but could save you allot of chasing around.

I'm not messing around with the conversion stuff. I'm just putting this TPI in because I need a decent motor until this winter when I do the drop the LT1 in. I have access to a lot of 3rd gen cars at a local salvage yard and I just want to know what parts I need to get out of the cars to make the TPI motor work.

That article will give you a very good start especialy if you are swapping in a speed density system. Other things that I have noticed to put a SD TPI in a pre 90 RS are:
A new oil pressure sending unit - the old ones are 2 wire you need a new 3 wire from a 90-92 car.
New fuel lines from a TPI car that go from the chassis lines to the fuel rails. You can also replace the ones near the tank (which is a good idea since you will have it off.)
Air cleaner assembly (should come with the TPI
You will have to more then likely splice in the old firewall connector into the new harness so all the pins match. (Basicaly this = alot of wiring time)
A new VSS, connector, or something ( I really haven't figured this one out myself. BTW if anyone has an answer for this please share.
)
You'll have to do some splicing to get the windshield wipers to work. That took some creativity.
Some new braces for the accesories. Some bolt to the intake which is now different.
New motor mounts while your down there. I would recommend ES poly's so you don't have to replace them again.
A new line from the evaporation canister to the TB
A bunch of new hoses.
New fuel pump. A walbro intank would be nice.
Thats all I can hink of now, but along with that article it's a pretty complete list.
Hope this helps.
