When you swap a motor into another later model vehicle is it common to swap the harness and computer with it?

It depends what the original engine was, what the new one is, and how much you're swapping.

I am pulling an 83 CFI engine and tranny together and am Putting it into a 92 F body

How much of it are you swapping? Just the short block? Long block? Intake too?

Im swapping all of it engine and tranny complete and dropping it into the 92 body.

If you're swapping the CF induction system too, then absolutely you'll need the harness and ECM to make it work.

yes I thought so. So ive begun pulling the harnesses. The c100 pinouts are of corse different any idea where to get an 83 CFI c100 c207 pinout diagram? Thanks for responding by the way.

Check an 83 factory service manual.

ok will do can I just swap the prom itself or do I need to swap the whole ECM?

The whole thing. The ECMs are completely different.

Yep thats what I thought now I am planning to repin the 92 c100 to accept the 83 harness and then on down the line to the ECM. Am I missing any thing?

Indeed you could just replace the dash harness as well, but I believe you would have to also swap the cluster and mechanical speedo stuff?
