305 to 350 swap

I have a lot of questions so please deal with me.

I got a cheap 91 firebird that came with a 305 so i want to swap it to a 350. Is it easier to swap to a efi 350 or carb 350. Also when doing the efi swap do i need the complete engine harness out ofthe donor car or are the compatible. also since the car is a 91 there will be no emissions for it so i dont care for all the emissions stuff. i want a clean engine bay with not a lotof wireing. What are the pros and cons to swapping to both the efi and carb motor and if there is a link that has this info can you please help me out.

The EFI will be better milage and u would need the wiring .
The carb would be higher milage and u could build your own wiring harness on the engine side.

If your engine is ok, u could also just bore it and stroke it to a 350 !!???

I had heard somewhere that when you do that the walls end up very thin and that's why "nobody" does it. Is that true?

It would help a lot to know exactly what you have now. Is it TBI, TPI, or carb?

You do not make a 350 out of a 305 block. That is just non-sense.

Re: 305 to 350 swap

since it is a 91 it has been converted to carb an efi 350 will be better on gas easier to start in cold weather in my opinion

Re: 305 to 350 swap

if you can do a 350 tuned port/ multi port injection. youll have more control and be happier with it. might cost just a little bit more, but like i said happier. fuel eco and power in the end can be better. more hsp and torque. just saying. but cheaper and easier is the carb. just have to fab some of the stuff yourself.

You CANNOT make a 350 out of a 305. You can make a 335, but not a 350.

You can go carbed - with that you just need to eliminate the pass side wiring harness, get a Mallory 4309 fuel pressure regulator to bring the psi down to carb level (5psi), and install a switch for the torque converter lockup if you have an auto tranny.

You can also make a 350 TBI - use all the same wiring etc. that you have, simply swap out the chip for a TBI 350 chip (like from a Caprice) and also install a knock sensor for a 350 (as I have read). No need for the fuel pressure regulator or the TCC lockup switch with this.
