Re: CAMS???
We need way more information if you expect any kind of help.
What are the specs on your motor? Stock or modified? Heads? Headers? Carbed, tpi or something else? What transmission? What rear gears? And lastly, what are your goals? Do you just want it to sound fast, or do you want it to be fast?

Re: CAMS???
here are the plans for the engine.
350 .30 over
scat 4340 forged rotating assembly with dome pistons and i beam rods
13.7:1 compression
750 holley carb (not sure)
patriot aluminum 64cc heads
edelbrock victor jr high rise intake
MSD ignition and components.
i want it to sound like a late model through the y pipe. and yes i will be running headers on it
i'm hoping for 450 horsepower through a 6 speed, and 4.11 gears
those are the plans and goals.

Re: CAMS???
Yea, i just took streetability into consideration, and this engine must be streetable... What would u suggest for a cam head combo?

Re: CAMS???
If you want this streetable, you need to have manageable compression, heads with modest port sizes, and a cam to match.
For example, a set of good quality 180-190cc heads, flat top pistons, a dual plane intake and a reasonable cam in the 225/230 range will give good drivability, good power band, and good power.

Re: CAMS???
If it were me running a nearly 14:1 compression ratio engine I would just give a call to all the companies who produce cams for SBC's and see what they say/offer you.

Re: CAMS???
To run that CR on pump gas you are going to need a cam with a long duration which will have a MASSIVE lope so all your wishes will be solved at once
Study DCR and it's effect on how a engine runs

Don't forget importance of Quench

It will be " streetable" all right
Just don't expect too much response below about 4000 RPM with 225 heads on a little 355
and a cam needed to run that CR on pump gas will idle about 1500 RPM

Re: CAMS???
This has a shot at running on E85 with some tricks but not a snowballs chance at 13.7 to 1 on 93 oct.
Looks like your street car will run on VP 110 or higher.
Those heads/that intake, i'd go with a solid roller and shoot for 7000 rpm peak power. Problem is I'm not sure your rods will like that too much. I'd run an H beam with GOOD rod bolts. Likely a cam around 255-260 deg duration at .050. 110-111 LSA Mid high .600's lift. It will lope pretty hard but still will be driveable...is just that compression is too high for pump gas.
You should destroy 450hp at the motor and likely make that at the ground.

Re: CAMS???
its not gonna be pump gas friendly, thats for sure.
i suppose if you run a BIG cam, you can bleed off some low rpm cylinder pressure because of the overlap. kinda sounds like the building of a full on race engine. for street use, id change to some flat top pistons.

Re: CAMS???
Yeah I'd rather see flat tops in there and shoot for 11 to 1 compression or close to it and still cam it the same way...take advantage of the heads and intake. Its gonna need to spin up to make any sort of power to move the car. 355's dont make great torque, hence why most build 383's to move power band down. 4.11 gears will help but that thing may want 4.30's or 4.56's
