Basically i'm wondering is it worth the hassle and what issues i'm gonna run into b it smog, a/c, harness or frame with 350 HP I have all the original smog on the new engine and all the parts from the original 305 still in the car running, just smokes with 260k on it.......

Re: 1987 t/a with 305 carb to 350 LT-1 carb

Every 010 block is either a "Camaro LT-1" or "from a Vette" nowadays.

Just a bunch of sucker bait to lure in people who don't already know that 010 is the single most common 70s 4" bore casting.

It's a small block Chevy. Leaving aside all the romantic feel-good weasel words, it'll bolt into one of these cars the same as any other small block Chevy. Gotta have heads with the bolt holes in the ends, otherwise you won't be able to install minor conveniences like .... an alternator. You'll need to make sure it has the bolt holes for the starter/flywheel combo you want to use; MOST 70s blocks don't have the one starter bolt hole for the pattern that was introduced in about 78 or so. If you need it and it's not there, drill it BEFORE you drop the motor in.

None of the rest of that stuff you posted about it makes the slightest difference.

As far as the "smog" stuff, what you need to do about that depends on where you live.

Same block was also used for a 165Hp truck engine
As the man said above , the block casting # means zilch this far down the track

That was under the old Hp ( gross ) rating system , would be way less under the current way Hp is measured (net Hp)

Original starter FOR THAT MOTOR might or might not fit THE CAR.

Try it before you drop it in.

Don't worry about the frame, it'll be fine. Get some SFCs anyway, it's amazing how much better they make one of these cars.

The ECM won't care, as long as the cam doesn't have more than about 220° of intake duration.

Those "ratings" don't matter; in 71 or 72, whenever it was that they changed the "ratings" system, that motor would have went to about 275 HP. But that's not what you've got, regardless; you have A REBUILT motor, so whatever GM called whatever motor made with whatever of the parts you happen to have might have come from, has no relevance to what YOURS is, NOW TODAY.
