Firebird Headlights
Does anyone know where I could get headlamps for a Firebird. I am hoping to go for new ones if they are not too expensive. Anyone know a place in the US or Europe that does mail order by Post?. Will the Camaro headlights fit the Firebird.
Thanks.
Thanks.

You can try USAutomotive, they should have them in stock and usually next day delivery.

Never really had an isue ith th postage prices, it's alys ben resonable hen I've been buying something and still works out cheaper than buying in the UK. Some places like Summit do have a surcharge for international orders which can be annoying, but depending on what you are buying can work out cheper still.

Re: Firebird Headlights
I did price US automotive for the headlights and they are £47 each plus shipping for UK spec headlights. What is the difference between UK spec and US headlights anyway? I am trying to find somewhere in the US to get them that will ship internationally. Has anyone heard of a place called Camaro heaven in New Hamphshire, on their site they say worldwide shipping. I am going to give them a call later.

Re: Firebird Headlights
Yes £47 is a ridiculous price. I am trying to get some in the US. I am having a problem with the light type. Does any anyone know what type of light goes on a 82-90 Firebird. I found two types H6054 and H6052 but I don't know which is the right one. On 91-92 Firebirds it's a H4666.

The difference:

Can you use the following?:
http://www.danielsternlighting.com/p.../products.html
Cibie H4 headlamps— 200mm × 142mm (7.9” × 5.5”)
It's a 6054 housing with a replaceable H4 bulb. It should be available locally?

Re: Firebird Headlights
I found the sylvania website there earlier. The H6054ST are supposed to be vey good. I am trying ebay in the US at the moment but very few Sylvania lights there.

See: http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...good/good.html
If you must have a US headlight, get the Sylvania "Xtra Vision" H6054XV instead. GE "Nighthawk" H6054NH is also a good alternative.
I would think you could locally order Cibie or Bosch H4 lamps in the 200mm × 142mm size. I thought they were made in Europe and imported into the US.

Re: Firebird Headlights
I got a set of GE Headlights with are supposed to be a direct replacement for the originals. H6052 is what is stated in the 82 Firebird manual for headlight type. The new ones I got are a sealed beam type which means the bulb is part of the headlight so if it goes the whole thing has to be changed. When I changed the old headlights I found they were not original and had 55W bulbs. The new ones have 65W. Will this cause the headlight switch to burn out with the extra current.

BTW, I was at a local auto parts store and came across an OEM style Bosch 6054 housing kit (SBQ200 p/n 2411) complete with OSRAM H4 bulbs for $70 (includes left + right). It's made in Germany, so these should be available to you guys locally. I personally use the old Japanese made IPF 6054 H4 kit that was about $50, but it was discontinued a long time ago.
See below for more:

BTW, I think a 6052 is incandescent and 6054 is halogen. At some point, (1984) halogen became standard equipment. I don't think you can get non-halogen headlamps anymore
