TES headers

i am planing on getting some headers installed on my car, Edelbrock TES headers to be exact. Its hard to find shops that will do it and i dont want to get ripped off.
I dont have an A/C so I dont thing it would that huge of a job (only reason i dont just do it with a friend is because i want it welded) how much should i be looking to spend with out getting ripped off?

Don't weld it! It will be a pita to take off if you have to. The headers are a complete bolt on kit. Just put an exhaust clamp where they mate to the cat. You'll see no problems and it will save you hundreds of dollars doing it yourself.
Sorry, but I have no respect for people who just buy parts and pay people to put them on.

Haven't been to track with new motor
If you have any questions on converting from TBI to TPI email me at jdkchevy70@yahoo.com

I have the edelbrock headers w/ dual cats, I was looking for system that replaced from the header back the intermediate pipe. the only place that sold a replacement for that little y-pipe that connects the rear of the cats is flowmaster. I wanted to get rid of the stock Y-pipe but no company had a system like that.every system I found I had to still use the stock Y-pipe assembly.

Suggestion: Do the actual header install yourself ,then take it to a muffler shop and have them do the necessary welding to attach the pipes from the headers to the cats. In doing the headers yourself you will also find that you will need to get a new set of plug wires with all 90 degree boots and that this is a great time to change the plugs and O2 sensor as well.
NOTE: Use plug wires that are universal so that you can make them only the length you need for routing them around the header tubes.

well i just changed all that stuff last summer i just spent 50 bucks on taylor wires and those wont fit?! there are only 5,000 mile on the plugs too, but i spoze as long as i have everything apart it might make sense. Will i have to do any cutting to get the stock manifolds and y pipe off? and once that stuff is off, how easily do the headers bolt on?

Cutting will be required to get the cats off(dual cats only) once the Y pipe/cat assembly is off the car. As for the manifolds, just follow the instructions for the most part with one notable exception: remove the starter and move the passenger side header in from underneath. Unless you're willing to loosen the engine mounts and jack the engine up just to go in from the top,it's the easiest way. Just be aware of the fan switch located between #6 and 8 sparkplugs. I broke mine during the first header set and when I replaced it on the next set it was anti freeze city!
