It was dual converters, not true dual exhaust. It added power over the completely single system.

I dont know anything about coming with true duals. Although over winter break I did get true duals on my car. I like the sound, dont know if it increased performance or anything. Thats my two cents worth...

Some '82's had dual mufflers. But that was done with 2 y-pipes: manifolds to a y-pipe to the cat, single intermediate pipe to the axle, another y-pipe to split to the dual mufflers.

There was a factory Camaro that came with true duals. It was a high performance prototype and the duals ran the same way the stock exhaust runs. Very similar to how Willie has his exhaust set up.

I've also heard of some Early 3rd gens with a dual exhaust setup but the pipes were really small and it didn't last very long. There are a few members that have the setup. A search might bring up the results.

yes, it was a high performance, limited edition car .... i'm thinking it was a 1le z28, but i could be wrong. if memory serves me, both pipes ran side by side, at least part of the way back.

is the reason you don't see more dual setups ground clearance?
