ANYONE DONE THE GP SLP HEADERS DEAL?

If you have bought SLP headers/install kit/cat adapter through the GP from Z Racing, were you pleased with what you paid for?

And, if I don't have a cat do I need anything else besides the headers and the install kit?

I am very please with the set of SLP headers I received from the GP. The craftsmanship on the headers is outstanding. Sadly it will be sometime before I install it into my 92. If you buy the headers with the installation kit, there is no other material needed to directly bolt it to your car. One thing I do advice is getting a heat shield or wrap for your starter.

To keep it from getting hot. Ha-ha-.

Seriously though, I don't know either, except that it's harder to start if it gets very hot.

$455 for headers, install kit and cat adapter. Price is still effective.

That isnt really that bad. I might go in on the GP. One thing, how do I do it exactly? I live in NY. How much was the shipping? How much will it cost me to buy them and have them shipped to my house in NY? Thanks.

I bought them but am awaiting shipment to me in NY...costs $35 for shipping...shipping,headers,install kit and cat adaptor...$485...which elsewhere is what you would just pay for the headers alone...not a bad deal contact him by e-mail with your zip code and he will tell you shipping rate.

I am still waiting on mine also. Great deal, and since I won't be installing them for another month, the wait is not a problem. Hurry up and order.

I was in a hurry to get my motor breathing good and didn't have a lot of money, so I opted for Hooker Competion headers. They were 140.00 and they have done good so far with true duals. They are just a quick fix though. Later after I get a loan paid off I am getting another loan to de-computerize the 383 (Holley Avenger series carb, dual plane intake & ignition), fatter headers, 3.42 posi rear and a new paint job.

I have mine spread out on my living room floor right now, waiting for the install kit. I had mine coated and they look very nice. Been a liitle trouble getting them, one set got burned with jet hot when they burned down and now I got to wait for the install kit.
Jon is a real great guy to do business with though, nothing like calling up and talking to a real person when you need something!

Yes I installed mine with a catco cat and the SLP catback and the whole job took less than a weekend. With it all being st. steel including clamps and bolts I never have to worry about my exhaust again. The hard part is getting your old stuff off. They made a great SOP improvement especially with the summit TPI cam I installed and all together a great sound. Now I am doing the WP S/R Torquer 305 heads. Bought a bare set cleaned them up and am building them now. I'll let you guys know how everything works together.

The heat from the headers will shorten the life of the starter. You'll "cook" it. From what I hear you could go a couple of ways. Get the headers coated, this would reduce the heat. Get a heat shield for the starter or that heat shield wrap for the headers. This is cheaper. Another option is to get a smaller starter, they are out there somewhere. The smaller starter won't get as close to the headers and this will reduce heat as well.

I'll be getting a plate heat shield, as well as the starter wrap, because I have heat-soak problems as it is and that crap is annoying.

you wanna know the easiestt way of protecting your starter take the two bolts off the solenoid slip it out and mount it anywhere you want that is the main problem with them it's not the starter motor the solenoid soaks up heat creatiing resistance in the line or you can splice into your harness with thicker gauge wire(also helps)another thing change your starter now before the slp's go in you will have to either modify(big hammer)the y-pipe coming under the oil pan from the driver's side or take the y-pipe down to change it afterwards just did it last weekend p.i.t.a

Thats right, heat ruins the starter solenoid. What you need is a solenoid heat shield. Kragen/pep boys has them in the Help! section.
