I recorded no gains with my cutout but then again its near the axle where the exhaust goes to bend up over the axle. Im sure if it were in front of the cats which is impossible for me Id have recorded some kind of decrease in ET.

Lets see... I LOST 12hp on the dyno with it open. I ran a 15.680 with it closed and 16.050 with it open.

A few LT1 guys I know gained about .15 w/ an open cut out vs. running through their aftermarket 3" exhausts. The LS1 guys seem to get about a full .2

The closest personal experience for me would be switching from my stock cat back w/ a Hooker Aerochamber muffler to a Borla cat back w/ the open plate - I gained a whopping .033 reduction in ET.

It's not impossible. I did it.

EDIT: I just noticed your car has dual cats. Maybe you can't run the cutout where I put it with the dual cat setup?? I'm not sure..

I had all my exhaust put on together. High-flow cat, 3 inch piping, flowmaster 80series and the cut-out. The cut-out is located kind of by the rear tire. Just in front of it.

Well I actually only had my car dynoed once. And that was after the exhaust system was installed. My numbers were 162.4hp and 229ft.lbs of torque with it closed and 149.0hp and 210.6lbs. of torque with it open.

those are pretty good numbers for an otherwise stock car, get some headers and see what she can do

Unfortunatly right now I have to fork over $1600 for a new transmission.(I got my clutch packs rebuilt last year $1300) I am going the right way and getting all new racing stuff, 2200-2400 stall and shift kit, and tranny cooler.
Anyway, Hopefully I can save up enough money to get headers. Maybe the 2 combined will give me more power.

Cut-outs belong before the converter, and after headers if you have them.
