correct me if im wrong but isnt the AIR systems main function that of lowering temps at cruising speeds??? if so then one would think that it would more affect the visual inspection than the "sniffer"

What are you? A politician? Answer the question if you can!!!! Did you take off your AIR? And if so, did you pass the sniffer? That's all I asked.

If you would like an explanation of the reason for my question, then I shall explain. My state only requires that OBD I cars pass the sniffer. That's it. That's all they require. No visual on an OBD I car. So that's all that I care about. I just wanna know if it's been done. That's all.

Now answer the question with an answer, not with a question.

BTW, don't take that as a spark to start a flame.

With a fresh, working cat, you will pass. Here's my reasoning.

I had to get my car smogged this past november, and with my procrastinating self waited for the last minute, I had to put everything back on myself. The only thing I did not replace was the AIR tubing going into the cat. I didnt want to pay to get it welded back on. My car is lowered, so I was hoping he wouldnt noticed the lack of the air tube running on the inside part of the exhaust. That, and a gutted smog pump, and I passed Cali emissions with flying colors.

Dont know but I plan to remove smog pump and air tubes soon too. IL is pretty rough but not as rough as cali.

I dunno if this is true or not, but I heard if u drill a hole in front of the cat in ur pipe that it will create like a vacum and suck fresh air in. I have heard of this being done and works, but I dont know. Worth a shot.

TTT....

And not trying to sound rude, but answer the question. I want PROOF that it can be done, not theories. "I think...", "I've heard...", and "It only makes sense..." do me no good when I get to the emission testing station.

Thank you Omar for your response. However, I need more answers from others to convince me to do it, that's all. And believe me, I want to. Just for the sake of working on the engine. It would be sooo much easier to do stuff.

I had a non computer controlled carb'd 350 pass GA emissions (simulated acceleration on a dyno). The only emissions equipment I had on there was a cat. No EGR, no AIR, just engine and cat. It took a few tries to be honest, but once I tracked down a faulty distributor advance, things worked out fine.
