I just got my 3" PaceSetter catback. Only $134 and it's not bad.

I ordered it from JC Whitney for $134.95. Shipping was $20.97 so I got it shipped to my door for $155.65. My current exhaust is way to loud for street use and I'm a broke-a** college student so I can't afford any thing that cost too much. I don't have the system on my car yet (I'll do it tomarrow) but it looks good. It has the crossflow muffler with dual 2.5" tailpies. I'm not running any cats (or any emissions crap) but I'll tell you how it sounds tomarrow.

Are they mandrel bends? Is the muffler/pipe aluminized? Does it have the flange to bolt up to the cat (if you had one )? I am curious because I may be interested in their headers. It will depend on the quality of the work. And if I do that then I will probably change to a 3" cat and cat back.

Thanks,
AJ

The whole system is mandrel bent and aluminized. I got the kit for the 305-350 HO (part # 07XG1566B). It has a flange that would bolt right up to a 3" cat but I'm just going to cut that part off of mine and weld some 3" pipe to my Y-pipe.

Definitley let us know how you like the sound, and if you can compare it to other 3rd gens systems you have heard.

I like the sound. It has a "turbo" muffler if that gives you a better idea. It doesn't sound as good as glasspacks do but it still sounds mean. It's fairly loud (I'm not running any cats either). Overall, for the money it cost, I'm very happy with it.

Oh yeah, it sounds way better than any Blowmaster I've heard. And I've heard a lot of blows on 82 and up F-bods.

is it the 3" one all the way to the muffler or is is 2.5"? Thanks for making fun of my blowmaster. Takes one to know one

I side with Taz there, FLOWMASTERS rock! My 2 cents But I'm interested in hearing how the Pacesetter turns out. GMMG is also a sweet $900 system, sounds kick @$$ on the 4th gens.

I recently did the same thing, but haven't gotten it on yet. It is mandrel bent and aluminized, but the inlet to the muffler goes from 3" down to 2-1/2" into the muffler itself (appears they expanded the 2-1/2" inlet to accept the 3" intermediate pipe). The dual outlets are 2-1/2".

I figure it's still got to be better than the 2" LG4 system, but wonder if I shouldn't just get a true 3" inlet, dual 2-1/2" outlet muffler to put on instead. Even if it costs another $75, that's still money ahead vs. typical Dynomax/Hooker/whatever catbacks.

I just got it all welded up today. It sounds sooooooooo good. At lower rpm's it's kinda queit and sounds like your typical crossflow muffler until 3700 rpm. Then it makes one of the meanest exhaust notes that I've ever heard. I've been cruising around campus all day getting all kinds of looks. I f***ing love this system. The tips even look good too. They look just like Mustang tips (slash cut, 2.5" pipes). Seriously, I highly recommend this catback.

That system won't fit our cars. Period.

Why weld? More stable than clamps, less likely to leak.

Hey RSS, why don't you post some .wav's of it. That is something we could do as a tech thing here, get all of the popular exhaust systems, on semi-standard cars and let each person determine the best exhuast for them. It would eliminate the Flowmaster vs Borla vs Slp vs whatever posts. Just an idea.

nc-iroc, wanna take a 30 minute drive to my apt. and hear it yourself. Actually I'd love to get some sound files of it and put them on the internet but I don't have the equipment to do it. Also, it's not all that loud at idle so a idle wav. of it just wouldn't do it just. You HAVE TO hear this system at WOT in second gear at 4000 rpm. You'd swear I had a big block. It sounds so mean.

Well, was it hard to install? I want to get one but I need to know if it was hard to install. They claim no guest work just bolt on. Is this true???

It was definetly easy to install. I have SLP 1 3/4" headers into a 3" Y-pipe and I'm not running any cats so I had to get the muffler shop to bend a peice of 3" pipe to go from the Y-pipe to the I-pipe. Then they welded everything so it wouldn't leak. They only charged me $45 so I was pretty happy about it.

It doesn't say Pacesetter in the catalog but it does on the box and on the parts.

SLP coated 1 5/8 headers.

Like I said, I have the 1 5/8 headers with the Monza Pacesetter catback. It produces a very quiet but deep tone. Personally, I would like something with a little bit more volume.

I had removed the Monza Pacesetter muffler for quite awhile(running the 3'' catback minus the muffler) and it sounded really really really good, but was excessivly loud. Now that I have headers, it will probably be even louder. I don't want an SLP loudmouth becuase that is pretty dam loud at all times as well. (I know the catback doesn't fit, but there are ways around eeverything).

My roommate has a 95 T/A with a Hooker Aerochamber muffler on his stock exhaust system and it is quiet at idle/cruising, but loud under accleration. I am thinking about bolting a Hooker Aerochamber muffler to my Monza Pacesetter catback. So if anyone wants to trade mufflers or buy my Pacesetter muffler let me know.

Also, does anybody happen to knoe the flow characteristics of a Monza Pacesetter???
