Anybody using Hedmann shorties?????

I just purchased some Hedmann shortie headers part 68470 from Jegs for 119.00. I got everything I needed, including the collector reducers with 02 sensor fitting for less than the Edelbrock TES......$336 total. That doesnt include the Ypipe for my dual cat car, but Ive already got one that will work......If you already have the dual cat setup, a good exhaust shop could fabricate it to work with the headers....That price also includes the TPIS afpr... The only thing Im worried about is the headers have 1 5/8 primaries....but arent they good till about 400hp? IF so, I "should" be ok.....Just curious if anybody has these headers or if I should have went with the full length headmanns.....

1 5/8" is fine. just a heads up....you may want to remove the paint from the headers when you get them, and then repaint them with some good stuff. the paint that it comes with doesnt last too long.

You'll be fine with the1 5/8ths, the Hedman long tubes are only 1 5/8 as well.

Thanks for the info on the primary size. One more question though. I know longtube headers really help race engines and tuners out by being able to bring the torque band where they need it for racing.....but is there a HUGE difference in LT's and shorties for a 350 TPI car? I already have huge amounts of low end torque.....If it meant another 50hp and 50ft lbs of tq, Id sacrifice the ground clearance....but I dont have a racing engine so should I worry myself to death over the HP/TQ difference(s)? SOrry for all the questions......just got really inquisitive all the sudden...

I've got Heddman's as well on my LT1. Great headers, just cant keep the collectors sealed up for anything. Definitely get the paint off before you run the engine, I had to drive around for a full night with the hood off, getting high off the paint fumes before they stopped smoking

shorties would be just fine for you. im running shorties with my setup, and they do alright. not worth the lost ground clearance in my opinion.

i had hedmans on my 84 camaro and i thought they were ok i guess, i also had troubles keeping the collectors sealed

however i just got Edelbrock TES's for my 90 iroc and the difference is night and day, installation was a snap, they look better, and i they give you everything you need including the new spark plug wire boots... i would stay away from hedmans, the price is good but the quality isnt, just my opinion

I cancelled that order...in favor of the TES headers....nickel plated too....I have a question though to owners of the dual cat TES, it says it requires cutting and welding for installation? Im not too sure about what they are talking about......some help please....How do the Edelbrocks compare to the Hooker shorties???? Just want to make sure the engine can breathe.....

im not sure about the dual cat cars, mine is single cat... i got the nickel chrome plated ones too, they look awesome (wish i had a pic)... you will be much happier with these, i was so amazed at the ease of installation compared to the hedmans, a couple things i noticed, they give you more room around the bolts to get a socket on and/or a box end ratchet, and the spark plugs are much easier to get to as well with these, hope you enjoy them!!!

the only cutting and welding thats required is to the dual cat y pipe. the dual cat set doesn't come with the entire y pipe obviously, just two small pieces of pipe that attach to the headers. the other ends are where you'll have to get it welded to either your stock pipes or somethin custom made.

i got the uncoated ones. i hear the nickel coating isn't as good as a ceramic coating, and won't last. but yeah they are easy to install.
