white/gray smoke after smog pump removal

Hello,

I easily removed my smog pump from my 89 RS 305 TBI camaro and plugged the hoses. I'm concerned about why my car is letting out a lot of white/gray smoke from the exhaust pipe. I mean it's a lot( at idle-some smoke, when you rev- a lot of smoke)is my muffler or exhaust system clogged? and the smell is a little off....

Thanks

I dont really think the smog pump has anything to do with your smoke condition.....you mentioned the smell "being off"??? Does it smell sweet? Id say its either a blown head gasket......or something more serious.....

Also forgot to mention....check your oil to see if there is any hint of coolant in it...it will look like chocolate or really runny mud....Youll know when you see it. Did it smoke at all before? It might be rings also...but you probably would have noticed it by now...good luck

Check your oil. See if it looks muddy. Does the smoke smell kind of sweet? I don't see how removing the smog pump would cause any new smoking especially at the volume you stated.

Its got to be a head gasket...something may have came loose somehow when you were taking off the smog pump....the engine may have got to hot and overheated slightly or something....on these engines....it could be a million things.....Id check the oil first thing....if it smells sweet(the smoke), there's definitely some coolant mixing going on....also check your coolant level....and see if its muddy as well......good luck

Could be a few things, need more details!
What did it smell like?
Does it seem to be running very smooth and on all 8 cylinders?

need more help

The exhaust problem cleared up..I think the problem was that my exhaust was clogged up and needs to be replaced. Anyways..everythings fine, except I noticed something new...
I changed my spark plugs today with some NGK V-power plugs...Its starts up fine and feels better, but I noticed some smoke(white) rising inside the engine bay. I took off those tubes on the exhaust manifold thinking that I could easily find the 1/4" flare bolts, but I couldn't. So I ended up putting the aluminium tubes back on the exhaust manifold. Why is the smoke rising now inside the engine bay. Is it because I didn't screw in the existing bolts all the way in? The engine temperature is fine though with the smoke rising.

is there just a little smoke coming from inside the engine? If it is, then it's probably just the grease and what not that got on there from your hands/tools when you took them off.

When I changed my header gaskets, there was a bit of smoke when I first ran it, coming from under the hood. But it seemed to all burn off with in a few minutes or so.

Maybe this is your new problem? Is there still smoke coming from the engine bay?
