Throaty sounding muffler?
Whats a throaty sounding muffler? I don't want the most noise just something that will flow better than stock and sound nice and deep.
I've heard that hooker mufflers don't sound great, and that flowmaster 40 series suck, I don't really want flowmaster in general. Borla duel exit mufflers are like 200$ which is ridiculous.
IE: I plan on buying tips and a muffler and taking them to a shop to fab a 3" system....I'm just looking for a good muffler.

I haven't made an "exhaustive" comparison effort, but I got used to my Flowmaster sound quickly and like it after 2+ years. I'm not trying to make it sound like the '57 (don't need to, though, since I have the '57...).
I played one guy's Hooker soundfile from this site on my computer at home, and my wife asked me, "How did you record your car on the computer?"
I've heard people say decent things about Dynamax.

I like Flowmaster, but I've heard some nice sounding cars with Edelbrock too. Doesn't Dynomax make a loud muffler?

Do a search on yahoo for Spintech mufflers...Go to their website and they have a ton of links to their distributors.
Thanks for the compliment too

Borla seems nice and throaty.
My AT exhaust is more bassy. Ive set off 2 car alarms by starting my car near their vehicle. My mom also says her window rattles when I start my car, w0000000000t! :lala:

If you want looks and long life, go with a Borla race muffler.
If you don't want to spend the money, then go with a regular 'ol Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. It's cheap, and not so loud like Flowmaster!

I never thought these would sound good but i've go edelbrock muffler and love the sound. It does not sound "raspy" like the flowmasters dowhen you get on it, sounds real nice.

I'll second Spintech. I'm running the 343SC model...it goes in the same location as the stock. When I first got it, it was loud to me, but now it seems mild. However, I get people telling me how loud my car is all the time, and I also set alarms off (setting my dad's truck off in the morning at start-up isn't cool though)...you just get used to it I guess. 1Fast- is that a single in/out you got there? What series is it?

Magnaflow has a deep mellow throaty sound that doesn't resonate into the vehicles interior but, sounds really mean when you hit the gas.
I have the Flowmaster 80 and it sounds great and all but, it's beginning to sound too loud inside the interior. I've listened to a lot of other mufflers including Spintech, Hooker, Dynomax and SLP and have found most to have a Raspy or High pitched tone when reved up.
The only mufflers I've found that have that Tight Throaty sleeper sound is Borla or Magnaflow. I'm switching to Magnaflow with a single 3" in/out as soon as I can.
