headers?

hi i'm wondering what i should do about my exhaust. i have an 89 gta with a minirammed 383 with protopline heads and zz409 cam about to be installed. problem is the car is lowered either 1 1/2 or 2 inches (not sure) otherwise i would definately get hooker super comps, but i've heard they cause ground clearance issues. would like some help with is, the car has the duel cat option and i already have a slp 3 inch catback (was told that should be big enough but i'm not sure)

thanks guys
jason

Which Super Comps, the shorties or the LT's?

There were some people recently whose 2055 y-pipe hung a little lower than necessary, apparently Hooker had a bad run on the y-pipes. Otherwise, if you tuck them up as much as possible, you won't have any more clearance issue than you would with any other system.

i was talking about the 2210's i would love the look and sound of the long tubes but from what i've read it seems it lowers ground clearance considerably and since car is already lowered and is going to be somewhat a street car i'm guessing the long tubes are too low?

If you get the 2210's there is a very good chance you will scrape on every speed bump with a lowered car. You would also have to either get a Mufflex y-pipe or a custom fabbed one to mate up to your 3" exhaust. I have heard a lot of praise on here for the Hooker 2055's. You should not have any problems with these if they got the problem fixed that five7kid was talking about. They will also bolt up to your existing exhaust much easier.

I'd go 1 3/4. 1 5/8 really doesn't become a restriction until about 400 fly horsepower i'd say.

and only headers that are 1 3/4 are 2210 and slp right? so that leaves me the expensive slp's that don't come with a ypipe

I think the 1 5/8 hooker supercomp shorties would work real good for you, plus i hear the y pipe is better that the slp y pipe
