Need new exhaust, need people with info on what's good!
First off, yes I have searched! Seems like everyone talks about shorty headers. The idea in my head uses the long tubes, and the posts about those seem to be just for really radical cars!
I don't have many performance mods to my car, but here's the list:
Hypertech Stage II chip
Custom 3" y pipe and cat back (gutted cat)
Tilton mini starter
Centerforce flywheel
American Thunder series Flowmaster
Accel high voltage cap and rotor
Taylor 8.8mm plug wires
Accel Supercoil
Bosch Platinum 4+ plugs
Dual K&N air filters
Centerforce Dual Friction clutch/disk
Centerforce throwout bearing
TPIS throttle body airfoil
TPIS throttle body billet plate
MAF screen delete
Throttle body coolant bypass
Airbox cutout
Aluminum driveshaft
Eaton 3:08 posi
B&M short throw shifter
160 degree thermostat
I would like to get some non-A.I.R. long tubes, the electric cutouts, and then 3" back to a Flowmaster something or other.
So, what long tubes are good? I need to know what diameter tubes are best for my setup, etc.
Do they come with collectors? Do I know what I'm talking about at all?
Electric cutouts, anyone have experience with them? I can't seem to find them anywhere either!
Flowmaster, yay or nay? What would be better?
Thanks guys. I'm sure this is another annoying "I don't know what to do" post, but my exhaust is all falling apart, and it's time to replace it!

i say go with hooker super comp long tube headers then youll need a cutout and a mccord power plate. and for the size of the headers go with 5/8 i think that would sute your needs.

Well, I'm having an exhaust shop do all the fabbing, and I was thinking that since I got a rejected sticker for emissions, and the guy I got it from (sticker) said that I can go back every 60 days and get another rejected one. For $30 every 120 days, whatever, no emissions for me! lol
So that takes care of the cat problem too. Don't have one of those at the moment anyway. Just a pipe with the casing welded onto it.
P.S. - I have no cat and I passed all the emissions fine except for NOX, where the limit is 2, and I was 2.9. And my car was smoking when it was on the dyno!! So, for 198,000 miles, this engine sure is a clean runner!
Anyone running long tubes have any pics or measurements for the ground clearance? I'm lowered, and I already hit the cat all the time when I go over bumps or dips! I can unlower it no problem though.

So, because of clearance (I have no idea why I didn't think of that!) I should stick with the shorty's? The 2055's I'm guessing, right?
If so, then I have a couple new questions!
I can't seem to find the headers for sale without the y-pipe, can you only buy it as a kit? I ask because I figure it will be easier to make a y-pipe for the cutouts rather than mod the Hooker one.
Also, are those same headers available without the A.I.R.? I really don't want to just cap them!
Lastly, I would really love to get the coated ones, any pros or cons there? Besides price that is!
