Flowtech..Summit...Jegs.. They're all the same. They will fit, as long as you get the right size. Measure your pipe (it'll probably be 2.5") and just order the matched size cutout.

It'll sound like open headers. You wont get much tone, but you will get a lot of volume. If you're running on the street, it may be a good idea to sign up for the MCCORD powerplate group purchase running right now. That way you'll be able to control how loud it is from inside the car, and if you get in on this GP you'll save some money.

They are pretty good peices. My cousin got a set of the 2.25" cutouts for his truck a few months ago, and I had a look at them. They are very nice, good welding, smooth cutting, etc... and they went on very easily too. We just cut out a chunk of each pipe, slid them on, clamped them, and they were ready to use.

I have the 3" Summit one, not yet installed, but its pretty good too. About the same as the ones I described above.

You clamped them? Did they leak much?

on those summit/jegs ones it says they can bolt onto my headers but it doesnt look in the picture to me like they have a 3 bolt flange pattern (other than the wing nuts to open it) so how does that work out?

They've been in use for a few months now, and they don't leak at all as far as I can tell. They sound BADASS too!!

My 3" cutout is going to be welded in this weekend.

The cutouts come with header-syle collector flanges, so that they can be bolted to your headers if you have long tubes. They come as extra stuff though, they are not attatched to the cutouts. They must be welded on if you want to use them. We didn't use them on my cousin's truck, and I wont be on my Camaro. Exhaust clamps worked great for him, and I'm sure welding will work just fine on mine.

Heres mine - how it came in the box from Summit (although I changed from wingnuts to hex nuts before the pic was taken. They do come with wing nuts.)

Cutouts can be a pain, anytime you want to uncap youll have to get under your car somehow, laying on your stomach or jacking it up. Depends on how its installed, must cutouts are wing nuts, just make sure if you take it off after youve been driving around you have a oven mit, cuz it will be hot. If you want a easier cut out, check out a quick time cutout, its electric, a flip of the switch in the car it opens. ALOT easier, its not a 12 dollar piece of metal but it performs better, sealing off the pipe so less air is flowed through exhaust and more is dumped.

I dont need a mit for my cutout, because I changed to hex nuts... no need to touch my nuts at all. (Am I the only one that thinks that sounds a little dirty? ) I just carry a 9/16 wrench in my glove box, and use that to take the nuts off. Then, I just have a little pouch to carry all the parts in (plate, nuts, etc) so I dont lose them.

Ahh... the dirty minds of the TGO guys I won't tell you about my Hooker then...

Anyway, heres a pic of my cutout installed. I don't have to lift the car or anything to take it off, since its litterally right under the pass side GFX, about 3" in. I just carry a 9/16 wrench with me in the glovebox with my ******* and can remove/install it any time, anywhere.

ok so what exactly is the performance gain on a slightly modded car then? i would think you need this on a highly modified car..

Yea, I know what your saying. At school you can get really weird looks when your talking about cars. How did they get that name?

A cutout isn't too necessary for performance on a stock, or even moderatly modded car. A nice catback without a cat will be sufficient. I gained a few tenths in the quarter with an open element on an LG4, but I do have a cheap catco cat($50) I got one because of the ungodly sound of a motor when rolling into a parking lot, and I gained a few tenths in the quarter. I guess for the price of just the cutout it's worth the performance at the track.

"Hooker" is the founder's last name. Don't remember his first name though.

I'm not gonna lie, I only got my cutout for the sound. It doesn't seem to make any more power open or closed since I got the Hooker 3" system behind it. But its fun scaring old ladies and little children from time to time

335TPI Has a cutout on his maro and he has a a dyno test showing the cutout closed and open. I got this info from his car domain site... Here is the link if yall wanna check it out. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/262003/4

"Dyno Day June 26th 2003.

First run in 3rd gear I had to shut down at 4500rpm because my rear tires were wrinkling since they're not rated for speeds that high. (I was doing 130mph in 3rd gear, 2.73s).

That run I pulled...

224rwhp and 347rwtq (exhaust closed).

The next 3 runs I had to do in 2nd gear because of my tires. It kinda pissed me off since the numbers won't be as visually high, since 2nd gear isn't a 1:1 ratio like 3rd. With the cutout closed in 2nd I pulled..

211rwhp and 309rwtq (exhaust closed)

I then decided to open my cutout for the next 2 runs. This gained me 21rwhp and 8 rwtq. The best numbers in 2nd gear open cutout were..

232rwhp and 317rwtq. Open cutout

Keep in mind this is with stock heads, untouched intake, untouched airbox, stock catback with a Flowmaster, PROM, and tranny. Hopefully I can get some Z rated tires and then run it on the dyno. Maybe around 250rwhp and 360rwtq with the cutout open in 3rd gear?? Only time will tell. Here's some pics from the day."

Hope this helps yall out.
Matt

that's a couple of shots of my 2.5" flowtech cutouts... they sound awesome... there's really no "pattern" (can't think of a better word) to how they sound... it's just really loud and impressive.. but i love it... all around, they fit nicely, are easy to work with, and not a bad price for what they do...
