Modding your car will get you better gas mileage yes. But the most important thing in gas mileage is to consider your tune-up parts. Are your plugs/wires and cap/rotor all new? If they are old and worn, it will contribute to bad gas mileage. Also check your tire pressure and alignment. Both can heavily affect gas mileage in my experience.

Cliffsnotes: Do a full tune-up, then check your gas mileage and see where you're at.

get a t-56.the 6th gear is a double overdrive that will really lower the rpms at highway speeds.

im not really sure what my gas milage is right now. I just bought the car last week. But when i bought it, it had a full tank and i drove for 7 hours around town and then it was at about a quarter of a tank. But next time i fill it up all the way ill see what it gets.

I got almost 24 MPG (hwy) with a 400 HP 355, T56 and 3.73 gears. Can't complain. But city driving, well that's another story.
