FINALLY DONE - True dual 3" SS mandrel over axle

After months of exhausting (pun intended) research about what to do for the exhaust....looking at all possible muffler choices etc.....I've finally got the exhaust complete.
After speaking with master Willie regarding his killer chambered exhaust I decided that was the way I was going to go with the space limitations as well as the sound (similar to GMMG exhaust everyone raves about).
Well I dropped off the car on Fri. and just picked it up (via tow truck). The car is not running yet (still need to burn a PROM for the new engine), so no reviews on that yet, but it should be within the next month
All work was done by master mandrel bender Mike at Sasser Custom Exhaust in Joliet, IL
Illinois mandrel bending order online provided by Bravenet.com 815-741-1201
He custom bends everything and also sells custom pieces and x-pipes. He did an excellent job and I recommend him to everyone! I'm so happy I'm spreading his name all over.
Without further adou...the pics of the true dual 3" Stainless chambered exhaust run over the axle:

I just got the other 2 pics (of the underside) to show up in my original post....
It's not cheap, but for what it is and all the time and work it took I think it was a DEAL! ...all mandrel, stainless, he custom made the x-pipe, all the custom brackets and hangers etc....it's a work of art. Pricewise....this entire exhaust (minus the tips and mufflers) was almost exactly the cost of what a local (well known) speed shop would have charged me to just make a y pipe! So it was a deal.

Awesome! I was looking for someone in the area to do nice work like that. I was just thinking it'd be great if i can get a GMMG on my thirdgen. That will sound mean with my LS1 and cam.

I've got a BMR upper panhard bar relocation kit which allowed more room to run the pipes over the axle (I wasn't taking any chances).....
I HIGHLY recommend calling Mike at Sasser....he's a really nice guy and can do pretty much anything you're looking for....he can give you a ballpark price over the phone as well.
Unfortunately there's no real way to get around running the pipes under the frame rails with a Spohn TA and LT's, so either way it's going to be low....the last thing I need to do is springs, I still have the stockers on now, and since the new engine is lighter it's sitting a little too high, so now I can determine what springs I can use. If it ends up that I'm too low where the pipe runs under the frame we'll just replace that small section with nascar (oval) tubing....not a big deal.

The exhaust looks awesome in person. I saw it when the car got picked up (I was driving the tow truck ) The fit and finish is great. Top quality work. The rest of the car is amazing too

What panhard bar are you running to get the clearance for that?

No clips yet....still need to get a PROM burned for the new engine.
The upper PHB is a BMR and the lower is a Hotchkis...bith tubular.

Looks like a sweet setup, but I am concerned about noise level. That has to be super loud with only 2 chambered mufflers. Willie says his car is loud, I wonder how yours will sound.

The pics from under the car make it look deceptively like there will be okay ground clearance. That is really going to be extremely low hanging.

I gotta disagree with you, I think his grough clearance will be pretty good, routing the pipes around the tranny and cross member is the best way to go, the exhaust is close to the underside of the car without worring about getting under the cross memeber. If you look at my post at the end of the vid you can kinda see how I had to notch my cross memeber to ge the 3" pipes to fit under the tranny. Im betting he will have better ground clearance than me and mine isnt that bad I havent scraped yet and I have the sportline springs

Got it running and took it out over the weekend for the first time (with muchos help from slow89Iroc-z!) and it's pretty loud! I don't have most of the panels in the hatch area installed yet, but it's loud. I'm going to order some dynamat asap and install it in the hatch, but it's loud on the outside.
Anyone have a good way to record a sound bite so I can get a clip posted for you guys?

I'll probably try with the digital camera, but I'm sure it won't sound too good....at least it'll give some idea.

Thanks,
