Long tubes
I'm about to buy a pair of long tube headers for my 383 stroker and I wanted peoples opinioins on which I should choose. I think I have it limited down to the Dougs Headers #3321 and the Hooker headers #2210. Does anyone have any good feedback on the Dougs headers, they seem good I'm just wondering because they come ceramic coated for about $550. Any info would be great.

Re: Long tubes
i have the 2210's. they are a real tight fit. i have solid motor mounts and dart angle plug heads.so the engine is not in the exact stock location. and the #3 plug is impossible to get to. i had to bend and beat and cut the lower control arm to get them to fit. plenty of room for a big starter and performance wise no complaints.

Re: Long tubes
I really hated using the Headmans on mine, everyone tells me the hookers fit better and i hear all good about Dougs, the headmans only have one thing better, ground clearance, HTH.

Re: Long tubes
I really love my dougs headers they fit great, no need to jack up the motor, just install from the bottom, install took about 45 minutes. The flanges are super thick and plugs all go in great except for number 7 cylinder needs a shorty plug. Other than that they are great headers with pleanty of clearance, and no fitment issues what so ever. Also you will need a mini starter though.

Re: Long tubes
My buddy uses a t56 with his but I'm not sure how they fit. I would assume like crap. My hookers were/are a very tight fit.

2210's here with Trick Flow 23* heads, T-56 and the L98 angle plugs, NO problems with spark plugs. I am running the Accel shorty plugs and Taylor 409 wires. With our 383's the 1 3/4 tubes are nice!

Re: Long tubes
I plan to do a 383 in the future with longtubes, so I wanted to ask. Wouldn't buying tubular a-arms and a k-member open up a lot of room (at least the a-arms where I wouldn't have to beat the crap out of them)? Or do you already have all that and it still needed modding?
