Ball & socket is not crap. It is a better sealing design.

Re: ok i am really confused on heddman LT headers nowadays

You can still use the old non ball and socket extensions on the ball and socket headers it just won't be proper FYI, don't use a gasket and it's the same 3 bolt flange. OR you can spend 30 bucks and just buy the ball and socket flanges you need from Jegs or Summit. I called Hedman because I was having trouble finding the extensions and they filled me in on why they changed the design and what I needed.

Re: ok i am really confused on heddman LT headers nowadays

i like the ball and socket style, prevents the gaskets from blowing out and has a way better seal

Re: ok i am really confused on heddman LT headers nowadays

ball and socket is fine on the $130 cheapies. Just put a set on a car for a guy 2 weeks ago. Used the headmann S-bends which have a 3 bolt flange and no gasket. Seemed to seal fine for me, and saved him the $25 pair of aluminum no leak donuts

Re: ok i am really confused on heddman LT headers nowadays

Now the hedman 68460 ball and socket headers, is it true from what I am reading that they can bolt onto 3 bolt flanges? you just need no gasket or something? Say if a muffler has a 3 bolt flange would it bolt right on to the ball and socket flange 3 inch flange? Thanks for the help.

Re: ok i am really confused on heddman LT headers nowadays

can't bolt a muffler directly onto the headers you need the headmann S-bend pipes first at least

Yes the 3 bolt flange will bolt directly onto the ball and socket flanges I've PERSONALLY seen this done and it's holding. If you can't keep the bolts in use red loctite, I use it on those bolts and my header bolts; it's nice not having to tighten those things weekly.
