exhaust cut out

i have a cut out just before my muffler. i am getting rid of my cat because mass. is getting rid of my emissions. i saw on jegs that they have cutouts for only $30 which is real cheap. will this make a big difference in noise having it right off the y pipe rather than just before the muffler because just before the muffler doesn't make much of a difference? i have hooker 2055's and 3" y pipe and a flowmaster catback. as said, i will be removing the cat.

i'm a little nervous about the wing nuts. will they have a tendency to twist off with vibration?

Re: exhaust cut out

If you put it where the cat used to be, it will sound amazing. And it will dump the flames and smoke out the side of the car too!

Re: exhaust cut out

a cut out with a little bit of pipe out the side is fun, but i would have to get one of the 12V cutout flap thing from jegs also

Re: exhaust cut out

That's just crazy and unbelievable. Massachussetts is the second most liberal tree-hugger state after California and they're not doing emissions tests anymore? Maybe you mean your car is too old and doesnt have to be checked anymore? However, federal law says you still have to have the cat on there, no matter what the state says.

But it's true. No more sniffer at all come Oct. 1st. Not even a 2-speed idle test. Only OBDII cars get any kind of emissions test. And to think the state made every inspection stations buy expensive dynos and diagnostic computers. now there stuck with them. $50,000 worth of useless equipment. But thats what you get from "the second most liberal tree-hugger state"
