Very nice, sounds awsome, nice cats too. Any idea what the ground clearance is? Any pics of it?

Re: duals are done. pics and sound clip

thanks man. but those are not the cats. they are the dynomax bullet mufflers.
i am still waiting for the cats to come in. i ordered them late, but the car had to be done b/c the shop needed the room. so it will be goin back in to have them put in.

i'll take some ground shots tomorrow and post them for u.

That is real nice. What PN are the headmans and did that h pipe fit right in or was it cut to clear the tranny crossmember?

Re: duals are done. pics and sound clip

honestly, 3" of ground clearance from a stock ride height car sucks...especially since you paid to have an exhaust shop do it and there's no aftermarket tranny crossmember or something like that. i can understand if you're going around an aftermarket t56 crossmember like i did on ssean92's car, or if you're running a spohn ta/crossmember combo like my father is, but with a stock crossmember/700r4, i think that you could legitimately get away with this much clearance:

you can see in that picture, just how low the vehicle is and the exhaust is nearly invisible it's so well tucked. (and i was kneeling down to take the picture) hell, i built a dual 3" x-piped exhaust on a 700r4 car with more clearance than you got.

you just let me know whenever you take the car back to have the cats put on, i'll make sure you have plenty of pictures of the proper way to have them do it. i just hate to see people get run over by local shops who don't know what they're doing.

don't get me wrong, i'm glad to see you're happy with it, and it's cool that they took it over the axle and out to tips under the bumper, but to me, being an exhaust shop, they could have done alot better for you.

MW66nova
yeah but aren't urs run in the fact location? please show me some pics so i can give it to them. also what is the hieght of ur tire. it looks to be about 28" tall. please pm me the pics.
i thought the same thing. that there should be more clearence. but i was worried about the pipe running to close to the fuel lines that are in the tunnel. i was affraid of the heat. would that be a problem? can they be tucked in the tunnel? maybe i should have him re-doit.

its getting the body work done right now,but t is going back b/c i don't like how the tips are angled down. i told him if he couldn't make them level then i want them to be tucked and out of sight like the fact. he said he would fix it.

i just hope he doesn't try and charge me more if he has to redo the whole exhaust.

INO.
p# hed-68460. $150 H-pipe sum-642025.
i used hedman s-bends. they come with a flanged ball socket. the h-pipe slides right over them. then measure the middle and place the middle pipe and ur good.
well typically an h pipe will give it more torq vs an x-pipe,which will give more hi end h/p. also an h will be deeper and throatier. an x-pipe is way to raspy for me.
right now it runs like ***** b/c i put a new Q-jet on it and have not tuned it yet. plus i plan on having my timming advanced. my buddy is goin to do both of those things when its out of the b-shop next week. so i'll let u know.
should beabout 2 weeks total.

Tiresmokin.
thats not much diff from mine. what kind of mufflers are they. and i could never understand why poeple on give idle sound clips. its just not enough info to say i like one more than the other. jmo. i respect ur opinion.

thanks guys.

Re: duals are done. pics and sound clip

i just got off the phone with the owner he said to bring it back and they will tuck it up better. he admitted to having problems with the tips. so they might end up getting tucked if we can't find a better way.

i asked about the possibillty of paying more money he said lets figure out what its goin to take to fix it. the guy is being really cool about this and understands my concerns. so i think its goin to work out ok. i will post a new thread when all this is done.

That seems like more of a chambered sound. Kinda like my single chamber FLO's, but mine are way more raspy. Ah, to each his own anyway.

Still, sounds good man. One more third gen with duals!!

Re: duals are done. pics and sound clip

mine is actually a big single, but it's coming from longtubes, so it's routed the same way yours is. the section underneath the transmission is still the same though:

you can see in this pic that the crossmember is notched, but you'll only sacrifice less than .5". the solution is to rotate the x-tensions inward, which brings them upward as a result.

here's a pic of a set of 3" duals i did that have the kinda clearance you have, but are .5" larger in diameter, which actually causes lots of extra issues:
