Re: 80 Series vs. Aerochamber
I personally like the Aerochamber more. I like the sound and the construction of it. It is pretty quiet at idle, but screams when you hit the gas. Its definitely heavy gauge steel, pretty darn heavy.
I just like the sound of the Aerochamber more than that of the flowmaster mufflers. Its mainly a personal preference, but the Aerochamber is supposed to have better flow than the 80 series.

I don't have any personal experience with the Aerochamber, but I do know I didn't like the 80 series.

80 Series, big time IMO. Louder, deeper, more aggressive, etc.

Re: 80 Series vs. Aerochamber
I cannot tell you what you think will sound the best. That's up to you to decide. What I can tell you is the 80 series is louder at idle, and normal driving. At WOT they're about the same. If you're looking for an all around agressive muffler, I'd go with the 80 series. If you want something quiet while cruising around, go with the aerochamber.
I think you need to find some soundclips. I loved my 80 series above 3000 RPM. I just read a post a while back how someone hated the sound above 3000 RPM. I don't think reading posts about what people think sounds the best is going to help you.

Re: 80 Series vs. Aerochamber
I would have to agree with IROCthe5.7 on that one. Its all about what sounds good to you. What mods you have on the car can also totally change the the note. So dont trust all the sound clips.

Re: 80 Series vs. Aerochamber
hooker is going to be better for cruising around town and on the highway. its only loud when you are on the gas.
the flowmaster is going to be loud and noisy inside, and also have a deep tone that gets you noticed everywhere.
it will get annoying if you drive the car everyday.... my tastes anyway.
i like it quiet.
out of the two, id pass and go with a dynomax ultra flow. most power of all, and quiet to boot.
all in what you are after.....

I have the aerochamber and I love it. Cool and mellow just mobbing around but hit the gas and it screams.

Re: 80 Series vs. Aerochamber
i as well have the Hooker Aerochamber kat back... sounds awesome and beautiful construction all 3in pipes. very mellow at idle even with my big cam and you jump on it and it screams. i also have the QTP exhaust cutout in line w/ the midpipe for the "moments".....
Aerochamber all the way, much much better quality. i had the 80 series first and didnt like it.

Re: 80 Series vs. Aerochamber
I feel that sometimes performance can take a back seat to other needs.
If you truly love the sound of an 80 series, it would be a shame to not use it to gain maybe 5 hp with another muffler.
It's like going with a solid cam. Some people just don't want to deal with constantly setting valve lash just to squeeze out every ounce of power, while others are willing.
