Muffler install: bolt on instead of welding

I need a new muffler, I can't afford to pay a shop to weld it in, and I can't weld. What if I bolted it in with adapters and clamps? Is this a big mistake? will i have serious leaks in a short period of time? is there a heat resistant adhesive I could use with my adapters and clamps to better seal the connections?

I'm planning to get a low end Dynomax (super turbo, i think). Dynomax makes a model I can bolt in. Wanted to know from you guys if welding is really the best option for long term durability, etc.

thanks.

places like advance and autozone sell this red exhaust fix tape or something idk what it's called, but it's cheap and it's supposed to melt on and seal exhaust leaks, so maybe you could try it. i've never used it myself but i've alwais wondered if it worked or not

My whole exhaust was clamped, and it was fine. I then did full exhaust, and used band clamps. No problems and sealed great.

Re: Muffler install: bolt on instead of welding

. I've got the Flowmaster 3" system with clamps and a stainless bandclamp to the cat and no leaks. Band clamps are a good idea and give a wide clamping surface. Later.
