Re: LongTube Help!!!

Use shorter plugs if there are any, or different headers or different heads.

Re: LongTube Help!!!

i got the shorties plugs for the heads. The headers are new and so are the heads so it be pointless to changes heads just for exhaust. what about heating it up and trying to move the tube of the spark plug?

Re: LongTube Help!!!

hoe bad is it hitting? if its just touching, the only option you have is to dent the tube and put a thermal boot/sock over the plug boot.

Re: LongTube Help!!!

Your heads are not GM. They are a GM based head. But companies move things arond to get the heads flowing better. I'd try a new brand. The cheapest headers is not ususally the best route.

yeah i know they are not GM heads, i guess i miss read summits website. it said will fit GM angled heads so i tho since my heads are for a L98 they would work. but yeah they are cheap headers about 150.00 bucks. I'm not in the mood to throw more money in to headers right now. can i run a spacer like a flange and heat the tube like crazy and move it?

Re: LongTube Help!!!

If you want to stick with what you have, I suggest you double up on header gaskets (2 per side), which will buy you a bit of space, then you will need to dimple the header tube where the spark plug hits and run some kind of heat sleeve on the plug boot. This will look crappy, but have no measurable effect on power (unless you go nuts) If you heat it, it will mash a large area and look smoother, if you do it cold it mashes a smaller area.

Another option would be to cut out the section, modify it and weld it back in where it gives plug clearance. Your headers are not coated, so this would be the cleanest way to go, and unless you make a mess, will also have no real-world effect on power.
