I'm somewhat confused (normal state of affairs). If you have no Y pipe, there's nothing to bolt to the exhaust manifolds.

The two pipes bolt to the manifolds and are routed downward where they join into a Y. The cat bolts/slips on, then there's the cat back.

Re: exhaust question

2 straight pipes all the way out the back of the car from the manifolds/headers is a TRUE 'dual exhaust'. Not impossible to do on our cars, but not the easiest either AND plenty of go-fast cars on this board run a single exhaust out the back roughly the size of a sewer pipe

Re: exhaust question

I finally understand. I'm sure a shop can fab what you need, though the cost may be prohibitive.

To my knowledge, there is no performance Y pipe sold that will bolt to an OE exhaust manifold. With a set of headers, such as the Hooker 2055's or Dyno Don's, yes. The Hookers are 3". The following would provide a 3-system:

Hooker 2055's (Jeg's 520-2055). Catco high-flow converter (Summit CTO-9118). Hooker catback (Summit HOK-16823HKR).

Check the stick at the top of the page for some ideas. Good luck.

I may be heading to a slavage yard in a couple weeks, and i was wondering; does the 2 1/4 outlet manifold-3" y-pipe require the 2 1/4 manifolds, or can they bolt up fairly well with little fabrication to the 2" outlet manifolds. I need a new exhaust, and I figure, if I have to swap the manifolds, it's not worth it, but if it's easy enough to bolt on, upgrading to a 3" pipe now wold save me some money in the long run. Anybody know if they do just bolt up? Thanks a lot!
